Jeep TJ High Clearance Fuel Tank Skid Plate Installation - Barns 4WD

In this episode we are taking a close look and installing the high clearance fuel tank skid plate by Barns 4wd on my Jeep wrangler tj. It’s an easy bolt on option for those that don’t want to heavily modify there fuel tank and it’s location. With this plates 3/16 material thickness it should offer greater protection to the fuel tank than stock. I see this skid plate performing best during departure on any obstacle where large rocks are tough to get out from under your Jeep. A 1” body lift is minimum requirement before installation.

A note from Barns 4wd:
If you are looking for some protection for the low hanging fuel tank on you Jeep Wrangler TJ, you won't find a better option than this Jeep TJ Fuel Tank Skid Plate. This skid plate will gain 1" of ground clearance and bolts in place with simple hand tools. This skid plate includes a dimpled area for correct clearance for the fuel pump in the fuel tank. Comprised of 4 separate parts, this modular skid plate will need to be bolted together during installation. Manufactured from 3/16 inch steel for the ultimate in protection, this product will ship bare and need to be painted or powder coated upon installation. This skid plate will fit 97-06 Jeep Wrangler TJ's, a minimum of 1" body lift is required.

All you need now is the Barnes 4wd Engine Transmission skid plate. Its really nice it bolts right up to the Barnes 4wd tranfer case skid plate. I have those on my 2000 TJ Sahara. I have the Warn Gas tank skid plate. Enjoyed your video.

I just replaced my 1997 rotted skid plate with an OEM Dorman and that single inner bolt was a bear to tighten, it wanted to spin from above. Also, my ground strap was torn off so I had to rebuild that. Looks great now though!
