Lipoproteins are substances made up of protein and fat. The apolipoproteins have primary responsibility for the transport of lipids and cholesterol. Lipoprotein A is a type of LDL or bad cholesterol in our body. When there is a lot of little A in the body, it can cause atherosclerosis.

If elevated Lp(a) levels have been PROVEN to increase risk of atherosclerosis, why are there cases of elderly patients, with LIFELONG elevated Lp(a), who have perfectly clean coronary arteries (NO plaque at all) on their coronary angiograms?
