As a teenager, I had the privilege of working with a radio announcer who owned a magnificent recording studio. Among his equipment was a Pultec EQ1-P, a Urei 1176, a massive Ampex recorder, a U-47, a U-67, various old RCA mics, and a beautifully constructed voice booth. Later, I worked as a voice talent in his booth, and still later, the advertising agency where I worked bought all the equipment. When the agency dissolved, I sadly had to sell all the equipment. The departure of the EQ1-P, the 1176, and the Neuman U-47 broke my heart.

Your smile when you pull it out off bypass speaks for itself. I don't always agree with your more negative reviews but when you are pleased, I can take that to the bank.

I own one exact same model as you tested. When I first test it I wasn't able to hear a difference between Solid State and tubes. I asked Josh and he told me that I should buy a new set of ears :)). Maybe, but still, the difference is so thin. Happy that you had the same issue in hearing a significant difference. Thanks for your review.

Love Stam Audio, I have a few of their units and they are all awesome. Check out the 4K Bus Comp rack if you get a chance. I like theirs better than SSL.

i've actually been using the UAD Pultec for a lot more track EQP-1A moves lately, the bands are just so wisely chosen, using boost to poke instruments into their on space sounds so good. reminds me of the Harrison desk EQs but a easier

Indeed, Stam Audio it is the best in my opinion, specially the mastering stereo edition is just fantastic

I bought a couple mics directly from Joshua, Stam is slowly building a super solid reputation for a reason. Not necessarily the "best" or "cleanest", but always with character.

Hi there White Sea. Thanks for the video. Have been really enjoying your channel. The convo with Eric Valentine was really fun to listen to. Kinda random, but I'd love to see you try Fuse Audio Labs Ocelot Limiter. In fact, I'd love to see you try anything by Fuse Audio Labs. Small dev with some really cool, slightly left of center emulations. Arturia just put out their new J37 plug, too. Anywho, that is to say, it's fun seeing you check out plug-ins- especially when you really like them. Take care

Probably should let the tubes warm up a bit before using the tube feature. The differences might be more noticeable after warming up.

I just checked the price for the U47 clone. I’m stunned! From what I read in the comments, this guy/these guys make great quality gear. But the prices just don’t seem real. If I was in the market for new mics or some vintage style outboard I’d put STAM on the list, no question.

This is the first I’ve heard of them but I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out if I ever come out of retirement - I came up using this sort of stuff and I do feel more comfortable with it. Not enough of a difference to leave the box now I’m just mucking about from my home studio, but if I had a windfall I’d definitely stock my little studio with some of the better stuff I used in the 80s, 90s and 2000s. Including a U-47 (clone) and Pultec (clone) 😀

As a steem and group EQ or with parralel processing it's adding realy something on the mid low and mid high but it's also cut so much high frequency that it's not for everything, but on grouping steem of keyboard mix with guitar and on bass and drums it smooth everything in a pleasant way, but should not be use as main EQ, but as sweetner and smoother, i think it's a very specific flavour EQ for mastering this thing deliver a lot.

0:52 what is it that makes the analog pultec way nicer? we have had years to replicate it in a plugin, i use the uad one and it somehow makes everything i put it on sound so smooth
