Is PC Culture Anti-Free Speech? | Decoded | MTV News

We’ve been hearing a lot about “PC Culture” from the conservative media and presidential candidates lately, and the consensus seems to be that all of this political correctness is stifling our right to freedom of speech. But when has speaking out against discrimination and hate ever stripped someone else of their ability to voice their opinion? You still have the freedom to say whatever you want, and the “PC Police” still have the right to tell you how wrong you are.

Mansplain isn't a word. Stop trying to make it a word.

"PC culture isn't ruining free speech because we're adding new words!"-MTV
"Newspeak isn't runing free speech because we're adding new words!"-1984

Tell me where the difference is tho

"Being PC" isn't about being respectful. More often than not it's about _you_ wanting to be protected from disrespect while _you're_ engaging in disrespect. Basically political correctness is for people who can dish it out, but can't take it. It can be seen in the woman who slaps the man for turning down her advances, the black person who doesn't think it's possible for black people to be racist, and even the Christian who finds it offensive that you question their support of your eternal torture. In my experience, the overwhelming majority of people who support political correctness are hypocrites who only support it for others, but not themselves. They want others to face consequences for their inflammatory speech, but when they themselves face consequences for their hateful rhetoric, they call it oppression and harassment.

How can she say all this with a straight face? She's doing the exact same thing that she was criticizing others off.

She's actually, legitimately proud of the word "mansplain." With a straight face she just bragged about it being added to the dictionary. Wholly crap.

"Is political correctness destroying free speech? Let's go see what the comments think!" *comments are disabled for this video* "Well, they didn't say it was wrong, so it must be right!"

As a cancer survivor I would rather go back to chemotherapy than watch this video again. It killed more of my brain cells than 10 months of radiation therapy

"Calling someone PC is a way to derail and dismiss conversations"
You mean like the use of the words micro-agression and mansplaining?

The ratio of likes to dislikes to this video is glorious. What a nice way to start the day with a cup of SJW tears, thank you everyone for restoring my faith in humanity.

In Saudi Arabia, there is also freedom of speech, people are just mixing up freedom of speech with freedom of consequences.

Anybody know what the M in MTV stand for? I could have sworn it was music.

This is some of the worst propaganda I have ever seen. By that, I mean it is both a terrible message and terribly delivered(you are contradicting yourself left and right.)

"Calling someone PC is a way to dismiss and to derail arguments." You know what else is used to derail arguments? Being called a straight white cisgendered male?

You said you are adding terms to the dictionary. In a previous video you said 'it's just the dictionary.'
