I remember in the days following his return on RAW in 97 to save Bret all my friends were going on about Austin going off the the top there while I was going on about Anvil being back. Got to the point where they were all you stand over there while we're over here because I was so happy he was back again

Me watching people like Neihart as a kid and looking back it was like, gimmicks were so simple back then. Jims gimmick was you couldn't bodyslam him (unless it was later in the match etc).
King Kong Bundy made the ref count to five. Simple stuff like that worked great.
