Is it a much shorter and smoother finish than using a wahl (or other) beard trimmer with no guard? Looks pretty much like a clean shave.

I'm looking for something as a replacement to wet shaving for cleaning up my beard. Does this do a close enough shave that you would consider it a replacement? In other words, is it shorter then simply trimming with a beard trimmer with no additional length added to it?
