Selling My Car To "WE BUY ANY CAR"... AN HONEST Experience... We have all seen the TV adverts... you want to buy a new car but don't want to sell your car privately, tire kickers, time wasters... we have all seen them, but then we see the We Buy Any car valuation and think... hmmm maybe that's an easier way of selling my car? what is the best way to sell a car? what is the best way to buy a car? should you finance your car? If you want to buy a new Tesla, a Tesla Model Y, Tesla Model X, Tesla Model 3 etc... they won't take a trade in... if you want to finance your car then maybe selling a car to we buy any car could get you a deposit? and if you want to lease a car or hire a car then you can't trade your old car in anyway? these are all factors that ran through my head. But is we buy any car a con? lets find out...

I used to work at WeBuyAnyCar. And they are owned by British Car Auctions. So basically they offer the ‘Trade’ price or the ‘Current Auction Price’. People have the misconception of buying cars. You pay £10k for a car at a dealership where they offer warranty, peace of mind of buying from a business etc etc. But they have to make money on it. Every single car dealership buy their cars from auctions. The auction price is min 15% lower than what they sell it for from an auction. Dealerships have to pay 20% VAT on the profit, purchase a warranty for it (Always a third party warranty like ‘Warranty Wise) which is usually around £200-£400, give it a valet and pay a salesman to sell it. So the £1500 margin gets eaten up by those costs. However what people do these days is the general public go to the auctions and buy cars and flip them and sell private with no warranty, they don’t pay vat etc etc. The best thing is to buy your car from auction. There is no warranty or guarantee but you get to buy a car for cheaper that will work better with the sub £10k cars. Anything else go to used car or main dealership. If you want help or want to know more let me know. Been in the motor trade for years.

A Transaction fee is Smoke & mirrors and disgraceful, you don't pay a transaction fee when you sell to a standard garage

We Buy Any Car, my online valuation was £2, 999, offered me £700 after grading and I eventually sold it for £3, 200 privately. Biggest bunch of crooks I've ever met, they give car dealers a bad name and that's saying something. I can't NOT RECOMMEND them highly enough !
Glad to see Laura had her sensible head on 😁 P.S. what's the new car going to be?

Love it. I’ve lost thousands on cars over the years but I just get bored of my cars quickly

Good effort James! "We buy any car" always quote absolute top price online - my experience was similar to yours! My Mum passed away in 2017 and as executor I had to sell her car. Online £3450 but at WBAC cabin £2500! He went round each section of car and detailed all tiny marks/scratches/dimples deducting £100-£200 per panel! I sold it to a local car sales garage for £2900 who transferred cash to our bank account there and then!

We Buy any car is owned by BCA. So it’s win win for them.

Absolute rip off company. Had a two year old Ford Galaxy. Tried We Buy Any Car. Then tried The Best Car Buyer. They gave me £3000 pounds more for it. So enough said

Lol Laura's face at the end. I did the same with my old Astra they said 700 quid then started playing silly sods on the price, I told them to stuff it. Got 750 on part ex. It's ok if you just want to get rid, albeit they have a bit of a monopoly as they own cinch as well.

You were really lucky with that price and the fact he went up after you pointed out the valuation. We had a £1350 valuation on a car that when we went to sell it, they offered £150 minus admin fees, because they didn’t want the car as they struggled to sell them. I pointed out the valuation and the really good condition of the car, but he said “no, they didn’t want a Citroen C1”. I sold it privately for £1400.

It’s a KA they did you alright giving you £499. You over paid for it to begin with but they did you dirty on the valuation. They tried to do it to me but I wouldn’t have it and didn’t let them steal my car but you did alright.

I tried them during lockdown last May. Absolute joke!! The online price was okay, but as soon as they did the inspection the price was dropping like a stone. The car was 7 years old but almost like new inside and out. They were finding the odd tiny stone chip and saying it would need a respray and knocking hundreds off. Walked away and got a better price on the trade-in.
