200 missiles is a lot, but Iran has many, many more. The fact that the Iranians launched a strike that constitutes a fraction of their striking power, knowing full well that a limited strike would see the maximum number of intercepts by the defenses of Israel, signifies the possibility that Iran doesn't actually want all-out war with Israel. Iran can't do nothing in response to the Israeli attacks on Hezbollah. For Iran to do nothing would cost Iran credibility. However we in the West might feel about that, it would be unrealistic for us to believe that Iran wants to lose credibility. Therefore, Iran has to make a show of retaliation, just like before. We have to remain open to the possibility that Iran doesn't want a large-scale conflict with Israel. Of course, what Iran really wants is to continue to play the long game throughout the region. As long a regional conflict can be kept from boiling over any more than it already has, there is a chance for diplomacy and deal-making to save many lives. We have to remain open to this possibility.

Netanyahu has been provoking and asking for “these attacks”! He wanted Iran to respond to the multiple attacks that Israel has been conducting across the region. Netanyahu knows that he is better off personally when war is being carried out. The U.S. will “defend” Israel and I’m okay with that ONLY when Israel is not trying to start an escalated regional war! Israel continues to take advantage of the U.S. yet continues to reject our advice! Netanyahu’s U.N. rant was atrocious!
