QTT - Excel Substitute to quickly make a table in Power Apps

In this video we use the Excel Substitute and Concatenate functions to convert a list of words into a table in our Power Apps dropdown. Sounds silly but it is a huge personal time saver for me so thought I would share.

Great work Shane.... I remember watching your early PowerApps videos a few years ago when the PowerApps platform was fairly new and nobody was making videos on it - there was very little support content back then (the MS documentation was atrocious because they were in the early stages of release and were constantly changing things), and I stumbled across your channel when trying to figure out the answer to a problem I was having.... it helped me so much and I still follow your content and learn something with every video. Thank you for making great content, it is appreciated by the community and got this one-time n00b into PowerApps.

Nice one Shane, dealing with data that comes with those weird and sometimes hidden characters really causes issues, so having tips like this is great, i get data with spaces all the time so i used your logic and applied it with the TRIM (which "Removes all spaces from a text string except for single spaces between words.") so got this... =""""& TRIM(A1)&""", " Thanks again.

Shane, excellent stuff yet again. You have helped me out know end. My go place for PowerApps how-to guides. An alternative to your solution, I’ve used the Excel function =TEXTJOIN(", ", TRUE, F5:F11) in a blank cell. Then pasted the result into the Split () function in PowerApps.

You can use any modern text editor like Visual Studio Code which has multi-cursor functionality and that can help you to create such list as well but without writing formulas.

Thanks Sensei, Excel data manipulation skills are key in any data scenario, with new functions being added like xlookup, let, lambda, and filtering arrays one can build very nifty solutions in excel

Hello Shane, thanks for all your amazing videos. Can you please make one on the mixed reality feature and the possibilities (like associating a data point from a collection to a pin, having a comment chain for a specific pin, etc.)

You are always supportive !. I just need to ask(not about Excel), if I select a google Drive as a data source and make an application, then should the one how will use the application have access to my google Drive account ?

How about card view on the gallery and back to normal view. Kind of a toggle

You could try the offline power apps part 2 video...

Great video as always! Do you have any tips on creating Facebook-like comments-threads in Powerapps? Like ability for users to comment on comments? I accomplished two levels of this by using nested galleries but due to the limit of just one gallery-inside-gallery my creativity got stucked..

I thought the video was going to be about having an Excel object embedded within a Power App or using an Excel table as a live data source to a Power App. Can you make a video about that, please? Thank you.
