Big facts. I'm a fast attacker and these tips are very true. But I got ways to deal with a good defender 😈

I'm shorter than most of the people, and in the Sunday League, there were a LOT of big guys when I started to play. They beated the 14 year old skinny, short kid in the ground every time. I needed a few years to realise what the advantages of being short. Once I learned the right way and timing of lowering my center of mass, I became an obstacle that you bounce off of, if you charge me with full speed. I can count on my hands how many times I have been tackled by a bodycheck or a diving, in the last 5 years.

Tips:
+ Don't dive in (Don't attack the attaker, (wait for him)

+Get set ( predict his moves, and attack quickly)

+Contain (wait for him to do something stupid and flashy)

+Dont let them know

+Give yourself space( jump first for heading or blocking the player and intercepting a pass )

On big attackers: I will fake giving them a prolonged bodycheck (give em a bit, and wait a beat), and when they lean in---poof! I ain't there and they're off balance and easy pickings. It's like football judo, once you feel that resistance, you gotta slip out and let them wobble about a bit. Which is why footwork is super important to be mindful of in all practice, because that's the most basic part of the setup.

I am a top defender of my school, we 6a defeated 8b in match in 3-1, pace matters too much, if you lose control and have pace, do a soft slide tackle, if they power shoot, block with knee if it is a launch shot, block with ankle if it is a ground shot, block with shoulder or head if it is a high shot, as a defender dont try to learn skills, they are mostly useless.
