I've had food poisoning more than 30 times in my life, so I made this video which has some of my best pointers for how to avoid it! Just curious, how many of you guys out there have suffered from food poisoning as well? Or am I the only one?!

My worst food poisoning was on a stopover in Guangzhou. I wanted to take advantage of the transit visa-free visit to China, and I got sick on street food right before my flight back to New York. A 15 hour flight was NOT a pleasant experience when I was sick every hour 😂😂

Hey guys just wanted to share my experience here so I was in Thailand and I got food poisoning on the very first day I really didn't pay much attention since it was just mild diarrhea but it persisted for a week, then two, and so it went for a month. The doctor really didn't pay too much attention as well since apparently if you go to the toilet only once or twice a day it's nothing serious, I was given the mention Ciprofloxacin, although in my case i continued having loose stools for 2 months. When I came back home to Europe and I had a proper stool test (PCR for 12 diseases) they found a parasite Gardia lamblia. Which caused Inflammatory bowel issues and arthritic responses in my body to which I'm still suffering from after a year. Gardia lamblia is a parasite and parasites usually are treated with metronidazole or tinidazole. My suggestion to everyone out here is if you have diarrhea for longer than a week even though how mild it is, do you enquire for a wide range stool test both for bacteria and parasites, go see a doctor! usually tests are up to 40USD

Always have Immodium, Pepto Bismol tablets (they're easier to carry around and won't cause a pink sticky spill like the liquid can), and something like Prevacid with you when you travel.
It's saved me more than once.

acid in the stomach doesnt make you sick, actually you need acid to digest stuff, that's not the problem. When I travel I ALWAYS take green clay with me and drink it with water if I have any problem, this is the best of the best

Omg! Love this! I got the worst sickness in Riga Latvia! Made it to my flight and slept the entire way on an empty row of seats! (Thanks Lufthansa flight attendants they took care of me.)

Like number 101! Bottled water and Coca Cola are the safest go to beverages while traveling. Learned that local tap water in most places is risky, the wet and runny way!

Just to let you guys know that there is an oral vaccine to prevent traveler's diarrhea (in Canada, it's called "dukoral"). You need to take it beforehand, so talk with a physician a couple of weeks before your travel... Much better than taking ciprofloxacine. Love your videos ❤

1) To lessen the chances, only ever eat or drink from street vendors that are popular with locals. If it's not doing decent business, then there is a good reason. 2) Take Activated Charcoal with you. Whenever you get something from somewhere that makes you feel unsure, take a 2/3 immediately after finishing just as a precaution. It also helps with things like wind, digestion etc, so will help regardless. If you begin to feel anything developing in the hours ahead, take 4/6 of them. Wait another 4/5/6 hours then then take another 4/6. The following day, you can either get something from a doctor/pharmacy or continue taking the charcoal. If still feeling like crap, take the same increased dosage for another day. If feeling better, then lower it back down to 2/3.

I have traveled to many countries and places within the US. My go to medication for diarrhea is Acidophilus capsules which you can buy from any drug store without a prescription. I also carry a small water filtration system that you can screw on a plastic water bottle and use it when in doubt about the quality of water. I bought that at Walmart and it cost me around $10.

Probiotics before you travel, during and after coming home. I’ve never had TD again since doing this!! Gastro stop and charcoal tablets are lifesavers if you do get it! They help you get to the bathroom in one piece!!

You could also boil tap water for a couple of minutes, all the bacteria will die because of the heat

Other antibiotics than Ciprofloxacin are recommended for Salmonella infections, in order to avoid antibiotic resistance.
Actually, antibiotics are not recommended at all for salmonellosis in healthy people.

I think we have to be more careful in countries with low hdi and life expectancy because life expectancy shows how much foods and drinks are healthy and how much hospitals have quality...

One of the most frustrating, time wasting and risky part of a traveller's life.

Goong to Africa for the first time after travelling everywhere else. And for some reason Im really freaking out about this now (havent in the past going to other destinations)

But wouldnt you be washing the fruit in the same water that makes you sick? What about the cutlery? That knife you are given to peel it or the plate you are using has been washed in that same water??
Not sure how to go around that one

Pantoprazol 40 mg and Famotidin 40 mg tablets also should be used with Ciprofloxacin..

I have a major issue with your recommendation of Cipro. It has a black box warning because it can have serious side effects leading to permanent disability and even death. Some of the many problems reported are tendon rupture, permanent nerve damage and spontaneous coronary artery dissection. The damage from Cipro and other fluoroquinolones is colloquially referred to as being “floxed”. To me, the potential risks far outweigh the benefits and I would only take it in a life or death situation. Other antibiotics are available.
