As a French retired gymnast, I hate the federation for this move. Not because we lost a gold medal, I couldn't care less, but because of what Kaylia had to go through while other gymnasts like Lorette Charpy are broken in piece but could still compete. So proud of Kaylia, she made the best decision ❤️❤️

You missed the part where after her injury, her doctor cleared her to go back to practice but the french team doctor refused to clear her (some say it was in retaliation after she refused to join the other gymnasts in Paris). That's when she went full algerian 😂
Oh and after the change, they refused to let her go so she had to fight them and almost missed her chance qualification.
Her victory is so meaningful ❤️

As a french, I'm so proud she just gave the french sport administration the middle finger. She made her own way, not licking the boots of people who tried to ruin her carreer, she stayed true to herself. Her coaches were definitly set up for not handing her to Paris, it takes a courage most don't have to decide to get another nationality. Congrats to her, mighty spite too XD

The French team had a bad Qualification Round and failed to advance to the Team, All-Around, or Event Finals, while she placed 5th in All-Around in addition to her gold.

Rebeca Andrade from Brazil had 3 LC surgeries and she still competed in between and won gold medals in championships around the world including Paris. That’s a great example of how she was supported by the gymnastics federation, doctors, psychologist and the coach.

This is a prime example of a government overstepping its boundaries and creating a toxic atmosphere. When all these gymnasts wanted to do was compete to make it to the Olympics.
And this young lady found another way to compete and not for France.
And won a GOLD medal, but not for France. What a great showing. Outfreakinstanding

The French public supported her like she was one of their own. The Gymnastic governing body may have made a bad decision but the people went with their hearts and showed her lots of love.
