Installing automatic rising bollards on a private driveway.

Our video demonstrates what's involved during the supply and installation of 2 automatic rising bollards on a private driveway. A single bollard was required at each entrance to protect a large SUV, and we installed a safety induction loop at each entrance to prevent any accidental rising of the bollards. Control of the bollards is managed by using a standard 2-button handheld remote control to both raise and lower the bollards when required.

Anyone else notice that two Minis or Fiat 500s could drive on either side of the right side bollard... at the same time???

My mate had these fitted on his drive and some wannabe gangsters tried to steal his car by driving onto his driveway and when they tried to drive away the bollards stopped them. They were caught literally with their pants down running down the road minus one car. The funniest CCTV I've watched in a long time. The police and the courts found it very amusing too. 🤣👍

I’m all for bollards but the YouTube algorithm must’ve concluded I’m hitting rock bottom by proposing this video.

The main thing to understand is that virtually any security system can be defeated given the willpower and the time.
So the point of a security system is not necessarily to defeat the criminal it's just to put them off.
Yeah, you can get past these bollards but why bother when the house next door is an easier and quicker challenge.

I'm literally looking at putting in 6 or 8 six foot bollards in my driveway behind my steel gate. This was very informative. Thank you.

The space on both the sides maked it look like a divider instead of bollard

I'd sit there with my remote and raise the bollard right under the trespassers vehicle . LOL!

What everyone has failed to realize about this and almost all other non-keyed entry/exit devices is the presence of the ground loop. This loop detects metal. A wire running to the controller is monitored for changes. You can see this loop being installed a few feet inside the driveway. Funny part is the only thing one needs to defeat such an exit loop is a metal no-parking sign, throw it low to slide it across the known loop without setting one foot on the property. Bollard, retract. Same thing works on most non-keyed security gates. If your gate or bollard relies only on the presence of a vehicle to open it... a decent pieces of sheet steel or aluminum will defeat it in 2 seconds. Always add a keypad to exit, AND add the ground loop so that a vehicle must be present with a proper keypad entry to activate the gate or bollard. Now, without knowing the details on this install, it MIGHT be possible to shutdown that loop detection.

All that said, it’s a badass bollard install. Please tell me that loop is a proximity safety... but it’s way too far really for that purpose. Potentially a wireless receiver/transmitter... which is essentially taking the place of a keypad.

I think I would test the bollard before cementing it into the ground.

As a first generation Canadian of English parents I've never understood the U.K. fascination with front garden fences and driveway gates. These bollards of course eliminate the need for 2 gates.
Picture this...you arrive home from work, park on the street get out and open the gate. Get back in car and park in driveway. Get out and close gate. Do the same in reverse order to go to work in the morning. Madness I tell you.

My mate called me a bollard and now I'm here.

bollard could have done with a steel rod extend from either side to give better coverage of drive way 🕵️👍

A superb security barrier, but that house probably needed two of them bollards. Instead of the one….especially for that mini size car I noticed at the house you were working on.
