Self-propelled converted to push mower in 10 minutes.

It only takes about 10 minutes to convert a Craftsman self-propelled mower to a push mower using simple tools. I found a couple other videos on this that made it look complicated, but when I saw how easy this conversion is, I decided I should post this. I'd already cut the belt with a chop saw and removed the left gear before I decided to make the movie, but the process is the same on both sides. The plastic belt cover is held on with a single 7/16 bolt. You don't need to remove the gearbox or the drive shaft. (In this case, the gearbox was broken with a $200 repair quote, so my neighbor got a new mower and threw this one out.) Hope this helps others considering the conversion.

So I have a self propelled mower that the gears on the inside of the wheels wore down. If I take the belt off and do what you did here, I shouldn’t need to replace the wheels correct?

I have a lawn business, and need a simple push mower with a big engine, which noone offers.Knowing the self propel wont last for the number of yards I cut, this is my solution, disable the drive and gears, and I have what I need.Americans are so lazy, cant push a lawnmower once a week.I am 60 and push mow the majority of my 95 customers.
