The National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (NOFAS) is the leading voice and resource of the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) community. Founded in 1990, NOFAS is the only international non-profit organization committed solely to FASD primary prevention, advocacy and support.

NOFAS seeks to create a global community free of alcohol-exposed pregnancies and a society supportive of individuals already living with FASD. NOFAS effectively increases public awareness and mobilizes grassroots action in diverse communities and represents the interests of persons with FASD and their caregivers as the liaison to researchers and policymakers. By ensuring that FASD is broadly recognized as a developmental disability, NOFAS strives to reduce the stigma and improve the quality of life for affected individuals and families.

Your grandparents sound like wonderful people. Well said "a few moments of fun or a life of another person".

A wise young man, spread the word folks, no drinking during pregnancy, never!  Give our nations a chance to flourish, we have it in us, and we can make our children healthy and strong - he does my heart good, think of what he could have been without the damage even as terrific as he is now - it's 100% preventable, spread the word and help young mothers say NO to alcohol and give their child a full chance at life, independence and grace.  You go Morgan with powerful prayers!

I think that because most members of my tribe (Eastern Cherokee) are Baptists who don't drink, we don't really have this issue on our rez. The Qualla Boundary is dry as well, due to the majority religion and the fact we have the lectures from Yonaguska on how alcohol is devastating--he struggled with alcohol abuse. A lot of Natives like to make fun of Cherokee people, but we're doing something right here.

Amazing, what an awesome young man you are! Too many youngsters live blind lives, frustrated with difficulties, shunned because they don't fit smoothly into society. They don't know why and call themselves stupid. Many have never been informed by their mothers which is unforgivable. Change is in the air.

A moving speech, which made my heart bleed for your condition but it soared like a hawk at your attitude towards it. I have sons of my own and if you were a son of mine I would feel truly proud.

Thank you for speaking up. My son has FAS and I was always judged for telling him since I got him at almost 2 years, that he has FAS because people thought that I was labelling him. But I always said that he doesnt see it that way and it was so reasuring that you felt a weight lifting off your shoulders. My son just entered first grade and I hope that he will grow up happy.

Learning disabilities unite man! I'm proud of this guy, and I'm very glad he got the help that he deserves, I have some major learning flaws and disabilities that I too have a real hard time functioning in my day-to-day life. I'm very proud of this guy.

I am curious about cases of FAS among children on reservations, where alcoholism is rampant due to the vicious cycle of despair and lack of support and hope outside the reservation.

I totally understand the ability to articulate and present yourself well getting in the way of people's ability to understand that you truly do have problems. It's hard.
