I disagree. Yes, I definitely felt like a slight comparison could be made between the film and Parasite. But I felt like this was very different. Act 1 had me sympathizing with Javier bc older workers do end up in these situations. Bc he did seem like an attentive husband and father. Act 2 starts to clue you in that maybe he is not really right in the head. Maybe he is losing his grip on reality. And by act 3 we see the lengths he is willing to go to get what he wants and that we didn't know Javier at all. That he was only as good of a husband and father as his circumstances allowed him to be.
And that's the difference between this film and Parasite: one wanted to live a certain way complete with the family that came with said lifestyle whereas Mr. Kim wanted to be wealthier for his family to live better.
The Occupant is about greed and the pursuit of perfection and Parasite is about the struggles of class and station.

Anyone else's got made at the characters dumb choices? Like I thought it could have been real easy to expose Javier for lying and manipulating Thomas.... Or is it just me 🧐 probably just me.

I can’t stand movies where the bad guy wins. The Occupant was such an unsatisfying film to watch.

Hey Austin Random question.. do you prefer the social network or Whiplash? Just watched both back to back and can’t decide 😅

acceptance, contentment, hardwork, family, career, friendship, success and failure is all about the movie..just sad for the ending how a bad guy turns to win despite of all the crime he did just to aim what he wants for himself..

It took too long for it to pick up by the time it go there it felt very anti climatic. Definitely agree with the last act Thomas’s wife actions were very questionable also the gardener just disappeared. Lol where did his creepy self go?

“The Room”...A new Shudder Original horror movie . I watched it, thought it was good. Definitely took a different route than I was expecting. Was original and terrifying in a way I did not see coming...Love to hear your opinion if you have seen it.

It kinda reminded me of "The Stepfather. " My only question is what did the gardener have on Javier?

I agree with you. It was really unbelievable that the victim’s wife would trust a stranger over her husband and the father of her child so soon. There was no true building up to that level of trust. Not believable for me at all.

Hey Austin my name is Brandon and I know it's an old show but given the circumstances I think you might like Sherlock Holmes in 22nd century and I was wondering if you could also review it if you would like to check it out

Absolute terrible version of The Parasite. What an awful film. Parasite obviously was amazing. This movie, sucked balls. And that's an understatement. SPOILER: The entire point of the movie is this guy satisfying his need to get rich and have the lifestyle he wants at the cost of people's lives, his wife and child and everything good in life? That's a good thing?? I'm so confused. You said in this review he wanted what's best for his family. He absolutely did not. That's one of the best parts about Parasite, it revolved around a family and their love for each other. The "crimes" they committed made sense and their wrongs felt right. This man's wrongs were just terribly wrong. Haha. Nothing redemptive about any of his actions. There were no "good" motives behind anything he did. All his actions revolved around himself. What a terrible movie. Yuck. Really gross garbage. Greed? I guess that's the theme of this movie? And showing that greed is a good thing?? I don't know. Don't' waste your time with this movie. Just go watch Parasite.

Austin check out Freaks the 2018 movie on Netflix! Such a good movie. Went into it blind and was pleasantly surprised. One of the better movies I've seen in awhile. 👍😁

Your review was basically the exact same as I verbally reviewed it while watching it with my husband. Great minds! 😉
