More information about the video content bellow:
1. The Republic of Karelia is a federal subject of Russia (a republic), located in the northwest of Russia.

2. Eastern Karelia has been a part of Russia since 1323. Western Karelia was obtained by Peter I (the Great) from Sweden by treaty in 1721, and the area was administratively reunited with the grand duchy of Finland in the 19th century when Russia obtained suzerainty over all Finland. Following the Russian Revolution of 1917 and the proclamation of Finnish independence, a 1920 peace treaty left eastern Karelia in Soviet hands and awarded western Karelia to Finland. Western Karelia was annexed by the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics after the latter’s victory in the Russo-Finnish War (1939–40), however. After a 1947 peace treaty between the Soviets and Finland confirmed the annexation, almost the entire Finnish population of western Karelia moved into Finland.

3. As a part of the Fennoscandian Shield's ancient Karelian craton, most of the Republic of Karelia's surficial geology is Archaean or Paleoproterozoic, dated up to 3.4 billion years in the Vodlozero block. This area is the largest contiguous Archaean outcrop in Europe and one of the largest in the world.

4. According to the 2010 Census, ethnic Russians make up 82.2% of the republic's population, ethnic Karelians 7.4%. Other groups include Belarusians (3.8%), Ukrainians (2%), Finns (1.4%), Vepsians (0.5%), and a host of smaller groups, each accounting for less than 0.5% of the total population. Currently Russian is the only official language of the republic. Karelian, Veps, and Finnish are officially recognized languages of the republic since 2004, and their survival is promoted.

5. Petrozavodsk is the only city in Russia which was named after the emperor Peter I. The name of Petrozavodsk, the capital of the Karelian Republic, consists of two words, “Petro” (Peter) and “zavod” (rus. factory). This refers to the history of the first settlement which appeared in 1703 during the construction of a weapons factory which was decreed by Peter’s I, so the armory was soon named after him. Petrozavodskaya Sloboda, the settlement itself, was founded by another decree as a place of residence for all the factory workers. The weapons manufactured at this factory were used by soldiers during the Great Northern War (1700-1721) between the Tsardom of Russia and the Swedish Empire.

6. Karelian Ladoga is the largest lake in Europe. Ladozhskoye lake or Ladoga is a freshwater lake which is 136 miles in length and 86 miles wide. At least 40 rivers flow into Ladoga. It also drains into the Gulf of Finland via the Neva River. It is the largest lake in Europe and the 15th largest freshwater lake on the planet. Karelia has a huge number of lakes (about 18% of all waterbodies) on its territory. It outstrips countries like Finland, Sweden and Canada which only have 8 to 15%. There are more than 60,000 lakes in Karelia, and most of them are more than a hectare in size. The sum of their areas across the region is 145 kms3. That makes Karelia an absolute leader with the biggest coefficient of lakes in the world.

7. Several thousand petroglyphs, the cave paintings left by the ancient Sami people, can be found around Karelia today. The drawings on cave walls and ceilings, mostly of birds, wild animals, humans and boats, are 2,000 years older than the Egyptian pyramids and 4,000 years older than The Coliseum in Rome. The Sami are indigenous people of Scandinavia which today inhabit such countries as Norway, Finland, Sweden and Russia.

There is a difference between the Republic of Karelia and Karelia. The former is a Russian Republic located within the historical region of Karelia. This historical region includes territory located within modern-day Finland. A portion of Karelia was ceded by Finland to the USSR during World War Two. South Karelia, North Karelia, and part of Kymenlaakso lie within historical Karelia and are regions within Finland today.

This comment section is a warzone between Finnish and russian nationalists.
Anyway:Tää kansamme kauan on kamppaillut,
se seissut on ryssiä vastaan.
Se ei ole orjaksi antautunut,
ei luopunut kalleimmastaan.
Se ei ole tahrannut kunniataan,
vaan takaisin Suomellensa
se viha ja rakkaus rinnassaan
on vaatinut vapautensa.

Ne voittomme lunnaat jos kalliit lie,
niin sittenkin kesken on työmme,
ja kyynelin käyty jos onkin se tie,
niin kerran me vieläkin lyömme.
Niin kauan on iskevä Suomen mies
ja uhma sen kalvassa kestää,
kuin katkee ne kahleet,
kuin kirpoo se ies,
mi heimomme herruutta estää.

Me kuulemme Karjalan kanteleen
viel' itkevä vangitun kieltä.
Käy veitsenä veljein se sydämeen
ja Kullervon nostaa se mieltä.
Me nousemme voimalla kirkastamaan
tään kansamme kauneinta unta
ja kerran myös juhliva vapauttaan
Suur-Suomen on valtakunta.

Me tahdomme suureksi Suomenmaan,
me voitamme vastustajan
ja Vienanlahdesta Laatokkaan
me piirrämme miekalla rajan.
Se meidän on veljinä velvollisuus,
tää veikot on tunnussana:
Suur-Suomelle aamu on koittava uus
viel' untakin kirkkaampana!

Youtube research yielded the following conclusions:: Both countries, including Finland and Imperial Russia deserve to get land and a piece of Karelia, before and after the winter war. As such, after ww2 most likely, Finland was given (back) some land out of Karelia province after ww2 by the winning Soviets. The Finns of Helsinki called this land and province "SOUTH KARELIA" province of Finland, even though it is to the north of Russian province of Karelia. South Karelia province of Finland lies to the south of Finland, and this may be the reason for it's name. ::: The difference was that the Romanov dynasty had started a brainwashing campaign of ethnic Karelians in the 30 odd Karelian villages of present day province of karelia (it is called Republic of karelia in Russia.) So the ethnic Karelians had Russian language Bibles, which they said their great great grandfather was given by the czar. Ethnic Karelians attended Orthodox church for a few centuries atleast, and most had either a Russian first name such as Tatiana or Irina, or a some had a Russian last name, even before and after the Swedish conquest of republic of Karelia. The Fnns of Finland likely got 25 percent of Karelia, as Soviet negotiators agreed that there were some Finnish locals, such as Finnish hunters and some Russian trappers in this land, besodes the 80, 000 ethic Karleians living in log cabins about 100 years before the construction of San Petersburg city, when it was likely no- man's land. This land and area carved out of Karelia and given back to Finnland. Karelia was likely a wooded land of pine forests and other similar trees full of lakes and about 30 odd villages of ethnic

I had read about a boating accident in remote Karelia region or province state of Russia in which some school children during summer camp were killed in Karelia in a boating accident about 7 years back or so. I read further about Karelia in youtube more recently. I had come back to India from some place in America. True facts on Karelia instead of propaganda:: A perfect example of why certain wars are bound to happen in certain scenarios. Human beings are bound to lose lives, in the past, present and future, in wars. The winter war and continuation war in Karelia province of Imperoal Russia, or Finland formerly under Swedish rule, were necessary or unnecessary depending on which side you support. Sweden as a kingdom had in earlier centuries conquered all of Finland and one province of Russia kingdom::: the province of Karelia which Imperial Russia owned at the time, Karelia province which on one side was situated on the suburban outskirts of Saint Petersburg, and stretches / juts into Finland for a hundred miles or so. When Sweden gave independence to Finland, Sweden gave previously conquered Karelia province to newly independent Finland. Actually even earlier, on maps drawn in Stockholm, imperial Sweden had already started drawing the maps of Karelia into the maps of Finland even before Sweden gave independence to Finland. In the post independence scenario, why should Finland give Karelia to Russia unless there is a war. This meant war:: There was a war. Next a war was bound to happen, as Finland will say Karelia belongs to them. Likely after the Continuation war, Soviets created tiny north Karelia out of Karelia province to give back to Finland out of the bigger Karelia. Also, that time, Soviets gave back to Finland tiny west Karelia (small western part of Karelia), which they gave to Finland also for re-settling the small Finnish population of Karelia. Soviets kept the bigger bulk of the rest of Karelia province likely after the Continuation war. More important than the military tactics is a sad mental conclusion that certain wars are absolutely unavoidable. Earlier, the Romanov Dynasty of imperial Russia did everything (meaning, nothing) while in power to avoid a war in Karelia, as the members of the Romanov dynasty were related to all other royal houses and royal kings and queens of Europe, including Finnish Royalty and Swedish Royalty. If a king or queen starts a war, all hell breaks loose, as calls and urgent diplomatic letters start pouring in from royal houses all over Europe, to stop the war and to withdraw troops. King from a neighbouring country may call Czar Nicholas if he sent troops to Karelia: "Hey cousin, what are you up to? Why are your troops in my backyard?" The Romanov Dynasty was no exception. Nearly all Royal houses in Europe were somewhat related or even closely related in Europe including Imperial Russia at the time. Czar Nicholas was closely related to the king of England, for instance.

Interesting thing with this state is that many look very scandinavian. The girls are beautiful (from the pictures i saw of googlesearch "people of karelia") and has both russian and scandi looks that mix together somewhat. The men look quite fierce, some looked a bit norwegian and many people looked viking. The clothes i saw from pictures is very much like a mix between the swedish cultural clothing mixed with russia culture clothing. Was this a viking highborg during and after the viking rule of Kievan rus? As a hard nationalist (i dont talk politics ever cause i hate it) This land seems like a good fit for me. As i look like a viking finnish/swedish and im hardnosed and quite tough and outspoken with a great sense of humour. I wondered if this land is for me incase i ever feel i need to escape the liberal sauce and feel like becoming a swede/rus again. Wondered about crime etc. How great it would be to live in a housecar here? What kind of salery i could get (dont care so much just that i get by and get to help people in health care working) Would i be welcome in this state as a nationalist swede?
