More information about the video content bellow:
1. The Republic of Buryatia is a federal subject of Russia (a republic), located in Siberia in Asia. Its area is 351,300 square kilometers with a population of 972,021. The republic is located in the south-central region of Siberia along the eastern shore of Lake Baikal.

2. Russians constitute the majority of the republic's one million inhabitants, although the native Tibetan Buddhist and Shamanist Buryats (a race of Mongolian descent) remain a large minority (about 30% of the population); indeed, the Buryats constitute Siberia's largest ethnic group after Russians.

3. The Buryat minority group are descendant of the Mongols who historically lived in the area of Lake Baikal and first became part of the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. Two centuries later, they joined the separated confederation of Oirat tribes in East Mongolia. Shortly thereafter, Russia began conquering the Buryat territories. Now an integrated part of the Russian Federation, they mostly live in the Republic of Buryatia and nearby territories.

4. Its capital is the city of Ulan-Ude. The settlement was officially founded in 1666 by Russian Cossacks as a fortress. The city was closed to foreigners before 1991. The World's Largest Lenin Head is in Ploshchad Sovietov, the main city square. The head is 7.7m tall and weighs 42 tons. It was unveiled in 1970 in honor of Lenin's 100th birthday and to remind the local population who was in charge. In is now a common meeting place.

5. Aside from its cultural attractions and capital, Buryatia is a nature lover's paradise. Almost 80% of the territory is covered by mountains, and more than half the shore-line of Lake Baikal falls under Buryatia's jurisdiction. Outside the capital Ulan Ude, the major tourist attractions include hot springs, Lake Baikal and Mongolian style Buddhist monasteries.

6. The Trans-Siberian Railway passes through the territory of the republic, as well as the Baikal-Amur Railway.

7. Buryats – descendants of the Mongols – practice the philosophy of life called Tengerism (Tengri – The Mighty Blue Sky), according to which the Sky is the supreme deity and created the worlds. Both, the visible and the invisible one; both inhabited by spirits. They live all around us: in animals, mountains, forests, rivers and people – these are called the soul. Practising Tengerism means to keep a balance between the spirits, that is why everything and everyone should be deeply respected – whether it is a living next door neighbour, or a river flowing by, which out of respect cannot be polluted, or a forest that cannot be cut for the very same reason. If this balance is disturbed, an intervention of the shaman – spiritual guide, chosen by the spirits – is required. The decision about the spirits’ choosing is manifested by a severe “shamanic disease” that falls on the chosen one or by a thunderbolt strike.

Thanks for your video. Was very informative. Especially the Tengerism and how all souls must live in harmony and balance. This is the kindest religion to nature and way of life imo. Maybe the Mongols would have averted the ecological disaster that's looming us and would have saved the planet.
Only thing I thought was lacking in your video was you didn't mention much on how the land itself was acquired together with its people in the first place and how the Soviets and namely Stalin was trying to keep people of Buriyats under control. But I understand, maybe it might be political and inappropriate

is it Buryatia a new independent country as Tuva'?
Are Buryatia and Tuva' neighbours in the border limits? And what about the Nagorno-Karabaj's independence ? My questions and my compliments come from Argentina 🇦🇷

Your videos are ok but your comment sections get annoying with people who aren’t even from the regions you are talking about claiming independence for these regions just because they have a ethnic minority. Your videos are suppose to be to inform not divide.

I feel sorry for the Buryats who have been told lies and are going to join the Russia Ukraine war. Only 1% will return. I hope whatever they were offered was worth it. 😐
