If you look up the actual incomes of most of the members of the Senate, you will see that America has become much closer to an Oligarchy than a Democracy. Many of these folks have an incredible amount of wealth and they are passing the laws, not only for themselves, but for all of us. We only remain a Democracy when we have a vote for who holds their seats in the Senate. This is why the voting rights bill is so important.

The really sad, but realistic thing is that accumulating all of this wealth is only a way for these greedy, narcissistic, psychopaths to keep score of a stupid game, hoarding all of that wealth. Nobody needs or could ever dream of spending that kind of money in their lifetimes. But for everyday people, it means whether or not we eat, stay clothed and have a place to live.
