What Is Echolocation? | Earth Unplugged

Echolocation allows animals to build up an understanding of their surroundings but how does it work?

Animals use echolocation to hunt and better understand their surrounds. Animals that practice echolocation create a series of sounds, they can then infer from the strength, pitch and time of the echo where prey are and how they are moving though the surroundings.

My daughter has been obsessed with echolocation lately. I think this was a very informative video for her. At least for me it helps to better explain it toher. She's in Kinder, so...lol. A very curious little one.

If it's possible to formulate a mental picture through the interpretation of sound, then it's likely the same for light. We only create a mental picture through interpreting the wavelengths of light. Perhaps matter which doesn't interact with baryonic matter could exist in front of our faces but we'd have no way of knowing about it.
