Maybe their tusks are used to pick up FM radio.

Its dumb that people call narwhals the "unicorn of the sea", because narwhals actually exist. If anything, they should call unicorns the "Narwhals of the land"

Was I the only one laughing when it said:
"Males occasionally cross swords."

I never heard of a narwhal until one day I took my granddaughter to rain forest café and she asked for a narwhal stuffed animal and I thought it was a fake creature. I did some research and they’re real and now I love narwhals.

Just a thought, but maybe it can be used to break through ice to the surface so they can get air? Probably not why they have it but it could be an advantage

I'm reading through the comments and completely flabbergasted on how many people didn't know that this animal actually exists...

Am I the only one who thinks it’s amazing that they are so careful not to stab each other with their tooth.👍

What makes them even weirder is their skull: They're asymmetrical! They actually have a socket for a second tooth: the one that grows points towards the center of the animal, while the other socket remains empty. Very rarely, they'll grow both teeth, and you can find a picture of a narwhal skeleton with two fully grown tusks
It's likely that this adds drag on the animal, and so they adapted to only grow one tooth, but it's still bizarre that they have a completely vestigial tooth socket. They look like a lego set if you ran out of pieces

Actually, with the long horn, a Narwhal has the ability to focus energy into the tip, creating a dense ball, and shooting it at structures in the ocean. Occasional bright lights can be seen in the area when this happens. It also explains underwater phenomena.
