I remember when this Chanel started. In a few years it has become the best Chanel on YouTube on these topics. The problem with some of the older Chanel’s is they limit the videos to an hour. These topics need multiple hours to be properly explained. Thanks for all the free wisdom man!

I love the respect you give to your audience Curt, many times you've instructed your guests not to hold back. Much appreciated.

Belief in abject materialism and mechanistic determinism as absolute truth has left us with a crisis of purpose that threatens our continued existence

Curt, this conversation is a prime example of what I love about your channel. An extraordinary mind and an equally extraordinary host coming together to ponder and discuss. No dogma, no rhetoric, just an open-minded discussion of facts and potentials. It was such a treat. Thank you both!

Love Denis Noble! His books are transformative and should really be read by everyone in biology--but especially so molecular biologists. Really love that you interviewed him! Great work Curt!

I’m very happy to have landed this morning on this interview….. free of pretense & ego & full of living ideas and information! Thank you!

It is really interesting how scientists meander from completely accurate to evidently inaccurate. If genes have no effect on our mental capacities, how does he explain hereditary mental impairments?

Wonderful guest and wonderful interviewing, per usual, Curt. Thank you for all your time and hard work. It seemed very obvious to me that he was absolutely delighted by the quality of your questions and the interview as a whole - to have an interviewer and a target audience that appreciates him & the depth of thinking/knowledge required for the tough (and fun) questions.

Rupert Sheldrake and Denis and Dawkins would be an epic TOE theolocution

Maybe your best interview. Wonderful exchange.

I agree with Denis that the analogy between teaching Newtonian mechanics to undergraduates is not an apt analogy with teaching neo-Darwinism to undergraduates. Presumably none of the people teaching Newtonian mechanics would argue that that’s the currently accepted theory of gravity, only that it provides useful temporary training wheels, whereas that seems distinctly not to be the case re. teaching neo-Darwinism.

Love the way no matter who you talk to Kurt, Physicist, Biologist, Philospher, Computer Scientist almost all of the conversations address parts of the fundamental questions. The nature of reality and consciousness and free will. And in fantastically diverse contexts. Love your work and selection of guests! Thanks for introducing me to yet another very cool character in Denis Noble!

Great video! A question came up about the presumed conflict between reductionism and holism. This apparent conflict is what happens when space-time is ASSUMED to be represented by a space-time geometry where causation can be mapped out in a linear stream showing cause and effect, as Einstein and others preferred. However, this mere abstraction is not well supported by science, and Dr Nobel is correct, that Aristotle described other forms of causation beyond efficient causation. These alternative forms are apparent in our reality, like final cause. The apparent conflict between reductionism and holism is well resolved in Arthur Koestler’s 1967 book, “The Ghost in the Machine.” Koestler’s system accurately anticipates the current understanding of biology (e.g., developmental biology, epigenetic regulation, and including the free energy principle that operates over different levels), and his system is built upon logical necessities rather than arbitrary metaphysical speculations, putting his theory on a very firm scientific foundation today. When you free yourself from thinking of space-time as a convenient geometry, you can see that a two-way causation connecting parts and holes comes as a concurrent causation showing on the visible field, and leading to the possibility of a bi-directional time which is necessarily quantum mechanical. It is a pity that Koestler’s proposal was not taken more serious by the scholars that could only march to the tune of neo-Darwinism, back in the day. They did a lot of damage to free thinking, and stunted our growth!

A beautiful exposition, I was convinced of Denis' view quite early into the video due in no small part to the insightful precision of the questions being asked. It would be amazing to see an interview with someone working on the foundations of quantum theory specifically those who support locally real interpretations.
