This is by far the best tutorial ever, straight to the point, no intro, no talk, nothing... just how it should be!!! Thank you so much.

So glad I found your YouTube video! I've been stressing for a few days. I have a older MacBook Pro and I attempted to do an update to El Capitan and thought I ruined my laptop. Thank you again so much!!!! Greatly appreciate ya!

It worked!! As mentioned in previous comments, just make sure your internet signal is disconnected or else the date will reset whenever you restart. Once I shut the WiFi router off, these simple steps worked perfectly. Thanks so much!

Don't forget to unplug the ethernet! I had mine plugged in and it kept resetting to the current date. I found another video instructing you to remove it to avoid this and it worked for me! Thank you!

After 1 year of trying, here you had the solution. I'm so happy to finally be able to fix these computers, as we are giving them away to kids that do not have a computer to start attending classes virtually. Thank you so much!

Something.

Worked like a charm, up graded from Snow Leopard to El Capitan, very short, simple and accurate instructions.
Thank you soooo much

Thanks. This solution fixed my mid-2009 Macbook Pro for OS X El Capitan installation. Since the issue is on date, just make sure you switch off Wifi so your system is not pulling the date automatically.

DUDE!!! You are amazing. Thank you much for posting this video. I'd already wasted 2+ hours on this, and almost didn't watch because I thought it would be another dead end, but you nailed it. Thank you again.

Thank you!!! 2 days trying to fix this and finally found this video. I had to turn off my wifi for it to work just like the other folks mentioned in the comments

It didn’t work for me so I called Apple support and they helped me out. You have to hold option +command + R while pressing the power button so this will allow you to install the latest MacOS version compatible with your Mac. Hope this helps 👍

Doubted this like many before me, but this one ACTUALLY solved the issue! Make sure it's not plugged into the internet via ethernet after you've changed the date or it will change it automatically (as I found out several times...) Thank you for solving an issue I have been putting of for 2 days trying to resolve. 5* would highly recommend.

Wow this solution fixed the problem with the install and allowed me to reuse my This came in clutch when I was out of solutions and Apple Support left my high and dry with no answers. Crazy how this can solve the problem. Apple is really designing ways to make perfectly good computers and hardware obsolete! Many thanks for a great video and solution that works! A key point to add was that I had to turn my wifi off for the date reset to work, that is a key step in the process.

God bless you sweet kind human I was heartbroken and nervous all day until I found your video🧡 I’m not tech savvy, had this laptop since 2011 in high school and never updated it. You saved me from losing all my priceless memories and the computer looks brand new 🥰

THANK YOU! This was the simplest fix. Got different errors (a missing package) on a few restarts, but kept changing the time and it eventually worked. Also did not need to correct the date later. I assume the OS updated it on its own.
Note that I was updating my OS from Yosemite to El Capitan.

Absolute champion! Worked a treat for me. I was stuck in an installable OS boot loop. Changed the date, boom! Restarted, reinstalled the OS and loaded perfectly fine. Thank you so much 🤙🤙
