As a Habs fan, I was excited for the season even before the Laine trade. Drafting Demidov, Dach coming back and Hutson full time NHLer was enough for me. Even with no expectations of making the playoffs this year, the future looked sooo good. Then they traded for Laine. It was icing on the cake. It was hard to take his injury at first, but looking back, if the trade never happened, I'd still be happy where they were.

What people tend to forget is that Monty has been playing on the habs, it would be damn near impossible for him to have "good" numbers playing for a rebuilding team. His metrics are all extremely good, but when your team is the most penalized team in the NHL for multiple years running, has one of the youngest (and by extent weakest) D cores in the league and you face an average of 30+shots per game often stretching into the low 40s you will not have solid GAA or SV&. Very few and very rare goalies can manage it (I.e. Carey Price basically carrying the franchise for his entire career). If you put Monty over the past few years on a cup contending team, he'd have far better overall stats but his metrics on saves he is "suppose to save" is NHL elite and his saves on high danger shooting is elite if you look at the past 2 years.

What kind of stupid question is this? He had 1 good game. In his career, he has 3.36 GAA and 0.899 SV%. He isn't even in the conversation for Team Canada.
