With how barebones PE/RE is, I never would have thought they have the LogonUI intact. I'm even more surprised that Windows 8's LogonUI works in PE, as DWM is not active.

fun fact: in WinRE (booted from the Repair Your Computer option rather than DVD/USB) the Administrator account actually works

Never in a million years did I actually think Windows PE/RE actually had a logon screen.

The Windows 8 one is slightly wrong. In my testing, the original Windows 8, which I'll call 8.0 has that exact result, but Windows 8.1 it throws the exact same error message as Windows 10. Both on an ISO updated to around August 2019, and an old ISO only updated to September 2013. At least, this was the results among the ISOs that I have.
EDIT: I also want to add another thing. I think I figured out why Windows 10 and 11 (and 8.1) give that error message instead of working. Newer versions of Windows have a file in the system32 directory called logonui.exe. This file is what provides the UI for logging in. Windows XP doesn't need this, but Windows Vista and newer do. How these installers work is, it first it creates a ram drive, then it applies the Windows PE image, which is boot.wim in the sources folder, then, it boots the deployed PE. If you go into the system32 directory on the ram drive, in Windows Vista, 7, and 8, logonui.exe exists in the system32 directory. But, in Windows 8.1, 10, and 11, logonui.exe is nowhere to be found. At least, that's my theory

The Windows 10 PE has a vocabulary mistake, it says "initialisation", the correct vocabulary in Windows 11 PE is "initialization"

One time on my Old Win7 PC my computer crashed but the BSOD was PE-Initaited so the BSOD kept flashing a desktop!

I love how it just straight-up fails to display the logon screen after Windows 8 :P

In windows 8.1 the same error as windows 10 occurs. But not in windows 8.0.

Windows PE Vista: Goes blank, plays the startup animation, then displays the login screen. The only user is 'Other user', then it asks for a username and password.

Windows PE 7: Almost the same as Vista, but it skips the startup animation, and goes straight to asking for a username and password.

Windows PE 8: Displays the time, then asks for a username and password.

Windows PE 10: Throws an error: 'Interactive sign-in process initialization has failed. Please check the event log for details.'

Windows PE 11: Same as Windows 10, but does not tell you to check the event log.

That’s why Windows 10 and above became *SUPER* unstable and annoying to troubleshoot OS
