Birmingham-based band The Fortunes notched up just five UK chart hits - this was their final entry. The song, co-written by Lynsey de Paul peaked at #7 in 1972.

I cant thank everybody enough for all your lovely comments about our song Storm it was one of the first that little Lynsey and I wrote together all those years ago. Sadly Lynsey is no longer with us and I still miss her company and her talent. She woul have joined me in thanking all of those who liked our work. The Foutunes also did a great job on our song. First heard this in 1983 on my way to work (in my fiat 128 abath), in a job I hated, at a pretty low point in my young life, and it instantly lifted me. Had this in my head but no idea who sang it! I was 6 when this was released. Had no idea Lyndsey De Paul co-wrote the song: my god I had a crush on that girl! She was so gorgeous. Great times, great songs: the music of the 70s was awesome, something totally different every week! In the top 20, you could have Reggae, Rock, Prog, Rhythm & Blues, Pop and sometimes, even Classical Orchestral! Today....its a load of crap that all sounds the same performed by utterly talentless nobodies.
