If you watched it live, the main plan of Laker's coaching staff was to stop Jokic from getting any buckets and let him pass. Jokic was not passive, it's so physical that Jokic don't want any of that sht.

Ah Smoove, Idk man. He shot 7 times bc thats all the Lakers allowed him to do. They were crowding Jokic, Jokic didn’t like that physicality each time down the court. I don’t wanna say the Lakers found a recipe to stop Jokic but crowding him and feeling a body where ever he takes a step made him very uncomfortable

In just 2 games vs the Nuggets JJ was able to accomplish something Darvin Ham couldn’t do in 2 years. They basically shutdown Jokic and made him ineffective. Plus they were able to withstand the usual 3rd quarter avalanche the Nuggets always come out with.

They were able to answer Denver back bucket for bucket, never once giving up the lead and winning the game wire to wire.

And the great thing about all of that is they didn’t keep it a close game either, they straight up blew the Nuggets out on the Nugget’s home floor all while having no actual defensive Center. Truly a masterclass coaching job by JJ 💪🏽😤
