WCNC Charlotte investigative reporter Nate Morabito shares what it was like when it dawned on him how every second of every day, a veteran has a badge of honor while also carrying a heavy burden. He points to a recent interview he did with Army veteran Leroy Perry. Perry has spent more than a decade fighting the Department of Veterans Affairs for disability benefits for everything from a knee injury to post-traumatic stress disorder.
