We need to hold Uber accountable too. Because they are fully aware of this and they themselves enjoy the exploitation of drivers eagerly taking orders with seemingly large tip rewards. It started with them.

Did two deliveries, was estimated $17.46 and ended up with $6.60. As far as I know I did nothing wrong and was definitely disappointed with how little I made.

Feel like if they’re going to allow you to retract tip there should be a survey as to why perhaps even requesting pictures, so if it is something we did wrong at least we can be mindful as service providers to improve ourselves.

First tip bate just happened to me. $8.33 expected tip for 3.7 miles. Got the food immediately from the store and got to the house within 13 minutes. Dude was standing in the driveway with both hands in his pants and I handed him the order and said have a good one. Looked back at this order and he completely removed the tip and I’m down to $2.52. I got his address saved and I will be calling Uber tomorrow to see what I can do. I hope I get another one of his orders bc I will straight up take an hour out of my day to make that man wait

Happened to me tonight: the customer tip baits to secure their delivery during times when drivers are absent or time to delivery is very high. Then after they receive the food, they reduce the tip substantially. I was quoted $9.63 for a McDonald’s order 4 miles away, and they reduced the tip by $3 to $6.93. A very scum bag maneuver.

The sad thing is, this is happening to good honest drivers who has done nothing wrong. Its just the "bad" customers and Uber needs to find a way to weed them out by allowing drivers to flag such instances. Too many and there you have your tip baiter.

This happened to me last night. I reported them. I didn't go to customer support, I reported a problem with the delivery and told them that it was tip baiting and asked them to note it on their account. I did absolutely nothing wrong and my fare went from $11 ($8 tip) down to $3 (no tip). Some people really suck!

I'm a walker who carries a note pad and write every name I deliver too with address. If I get baited those names get transferred to a 💩 list.
I'll know not to go back or accept then wait awhile then cancel but that's only if I'm feeling extra salty.
If your like me and service mostly the same areas it's easy to weed them out.

This has been happening to me lately. It appears that my total week earnings are (example ) $278 available then goes down to $261 in my wallet!!! As a matter of fact I started my day accepting a $13.88 trip with expected tip and when I was done with the trip it only paid me $8.23 in total. I wasn't sure why but thanks to your video I understand why it happens. I wish we could be able to rate the customers as well, since many are lousy, cheap and demanding with a selfish mindset!😏

I’ve had it happen a few times on UE. It’s disgusting. If We agreed to do a job for a certain price and the customer with edits the tip For no apparent reason, Uber eats should ban them and or cover the tip amount shorted. Somehow I feel like there’s a legal issue in this on Uber’s part

Tip baiting is definitely a problem. This is unacceptable and Ubereats should not allow customers the option to do this. If anything, a customer should only be allowed to edit their tip if they’re trying to add more money to the tip. The fact that Uber allows customers to remove their tip completely is very distasteful behavior from the company. Hopefully they will address this problem soon and fix the tipping option to show their support for their drivers.

Uber knows this happens and should fix this...I think it's disgusting that this is allowed.

I would treat ubereats as postmates- you don’t know the payout period so just avoid the long distance drives above five miles and avoid most fast food places. Cherry pick that way

It’s 100% happens all the time and it’s getting worse. In the past 2 weeks I’ve been tip baited 5 times. The issue is they will tip you but they can lower it to as little as 50 cents. Uber is completely aware of this issue as a matter of fact they were the ones that told me it was a thing when I a 19 dollar order reduced to 12.

Started watching this video because I had a $10 tip removed. After hearing this guy say his tip eventually showed up I went and checked my app. The tip got updated to $27 :)

My orders always get messed up, so when I get a good driver. I tip them A LOT.. an extra $5 on top of 20% My dad raised me to never order delivery unless you tip at least $4 for their time, no matter what.

I got tipped baited last night. It showed the customer reduced the tip. However, this morning, I got the full tip and extra.

Important to note that they have an hour FROM THE MOMENT you swipe the “Delivery Complete” tab (if it’s a Hand to Customer order) or click “Delivered” after taking the photo for the Contactless Delivery orders. I have been timing it and it’s been on like clockwork.

I would say from personal experience, I’ve only been tip baited 3 times since I started delivering out in Boise, and I keep a mental note of those customers. I deliver to many of the same people, and I remember the crossroads and restaurant ordered. Is it always accurate? No. This is much easier to do on DoorDash (which there is no risk of tip baiting, but I’ll keep track of the pin in cases of unruly/rude customers - lots you can do). However, I haven’t delivered to any of those 3 offenders after the fact and the other 99.9% of customers have been awesome. I find more often that I receive more than what was originally quoted - not sure if this is due to the “Trip Supplement” (you see this a lot with the “Order and Pay” orders when you sit at the restaurant for 20-30+ mins), but I’m sure there have been a lot that just want to show their appreciation.

Just my two cents. Happy driving, all!
