I actually think the unflattering color of the pink dress is intentional. It's not her dress. Her human outfits are representative of her relationship with Eric or humans as a whole. She wears the unflattering pink dress when she's still an odd mute girl they found on the beach but she changes to the blue dress when he starts to fall in love with her. It's an intentional mismatch that serves to highlight how out of place she is in the human world at first.

I love pink and red together, very strawberry shortcake and always eye candy to me, but yes her blue dress is so great, the bodice reminds me of Aurora's peasant dress and it's always been my favorite. I didnt grow up with Ariel aa much bc when my older siblings were little, they watched the little mermaid so much the tape broke and my mom did not want to buy it again and see it even more

I don’t hate the pink dress bc it was given to her from “stock” versus what was made for her! I think that’s why the blue dress works bc it’s later in story when her personality is combining with the human world!
