best way to clean a controller is to take it apart, clean all the parts, and put it back together. This is the quick way, which isnt bad but if you take the time to clean it all it would be worth.

No. When it's THAT bad, You take the casing off and deep clean it. There are spaces that need more attention than just around the buttons. Like the shell area that meets the buttons inst easy to get to, or the rubber padding that makes contact with the circuit board to acuate a button press. Taking it apart for a deep clean, its far more involved and works much better than Q-tipping around everything. It's not as hard as people think! NOTE: DO NOT USE alcohol that has fragrance, or is less than 90% IPA. Store bought IPA is mildly diluted (usually anywhere brween 40-70% alcohol, the rest being any fragrances or water which is very bad for internal circuitry).
