I tried being Useless a few years ago... unfortunately its been the happiest my life has ever been. Kinda hard to be Useful when it directly negatively correlates to happiness :\

This has been going on since 70s that rebellious attitude often mistaken as "fight against injustice" has continuously undermined social structures for a long time.

There is a small minority of people who have learned that when you earn or create nice things, show your intelligence, demonstrate emotional maturity, or live a life that other people deem "ideal" other people will take, ridicule or ruin it. At some point, this minority learns you're happier to have nothing than have something and be prey.

What he's saying as society if we don't promote the child to learn it won't learn.
If we don't promote the child to drive a car we allow the child to choose not learning.

Laziness is a luxury for those that live in a well off society. In a brutal environment where you have to struggle to survive laziness isn't an option.

When I try to help my child be less stressed by not making them do chores their stress level actually goes up. Making them do the chores actually helps them to feel useful. Now expand that idea to society. Stop treating people as if they are too fragile to work.

It's not always useless, it's lack of funds. Some of the most talented people have a horrible lack of funds, capital, etc. It ends their chance of expressing great talent. The cemetery is full of people who had great talent that was never supported to express. Most people don't want hand outs, just a hand up, that may never be given.
