"We are here with another X thread"
That just sounds wrong

I think the reason Dragoon was so good in the OCG was that it’s the strongest boss monster you can spit out in a singular summon (Red-Eyes Fusion), which plays around maxx C super well

Reducing the TCG from West (America, Europe, etc) to just America, and the OCG from East (Japan, China, Korea and Asia in general) to just Japan was the most American think I’ve ever heard Joseph 😂

OCG Pendulum player is just that good. In Master Duel, you will most likely encounter 2 types of pendulum player, one is alphabet username garbagale, the other is japanese username god.

To address why Zefra just fizzled over here, it's due how other decks could achieve a similar end board for less and the pricing of some of the Zefra cards were just bananas at the time. So mindset was why go for this expensive combo heavy deck, when the other options we have can achieve a similar result and cost less to build.

OCG Pendulum players are just build different. In a format permanently hostile to everything they do they almost always find a way to top with Pendulum Magician, Endymion or Zefra.

I can explain the 3 Ogiers, it was because the combo lines that were resistant to Nibiru started off with Ogiers, since you could send God Phoenix Gearfriend to the GY with it and recover it with Renauld later on.

A really big difference I wasn't able to highlight was that the OCG had more copies of Emergency Teleport than we did at the time, which meant they could run Psi-Reflector as an incredibly easy way to just make Level 9 synchros for free.

At the very least I’m proud of the fact that the 1.5 weeks that D/D was at full power without Zoo was enough for them to top exactly one event. At least they could be called technically meta for a minute in the TCG.

Zefra was like a top 3 ocg deck for years. Much jealous

I remember the Dragonmaid thing. I think the problem was that people kept trying to play it as a wombo combo deck similar to Chaos Thunder Dragon, when it was always more like a midrange deck like Salamangreat. Yugioh players didn't even know the term midrange EXISTED until like late 2020. Before that it was either "Control" or "combo".

Dragon Link for TCG and Dragon maid for OCG? Balance, as all thing should be.

Its Funny how Rikka is the reverse of this in the TCG Rikka is pretty good but any format that has Maxx C Rikka is trash.

Big Bang OTK was a powerful OCG deck that would never work in the TCG because of a ruling difference. Originally in the OCG, Gift of the Mystical Elf was ruled that each 300 LP gained was a separate gain, so if for example there were five monsters on the field you would gain 300 five times instead of gaining 1500 once. This interacted with Fire Princess (Big Bang Girl in the OCG) where if you had multiple Gifts of the Mystical Elf and multiple Fire Princesses you would burn your opponent for enough times to win. But by the time the TCG started coming out in 2002, Gift of the Mystical Elf had already had its ruling changed so that the life points gained are all just a single gain.

adventure tenyi lacking galaxy tomahawk and olion also definitely hurt it over here

A lot of time it's partly because of Maxx C and partly because the OCG scene is much more midrange leaning. Also because the OCG scene tend to have a few decks that a lot of players latches on to more than they should for whatever reason

Surprised Chronomaly didn’t make an appearance it was a Tier 0 in the OCG, but because of the delayed release of Nebbra disk, a completely flopped over here and the TCG

My head canon about the Spright vs Tear OCG incident is that we just red pilled the Japanese players into becoming gambling addicts through milling and now they've played Tear consistently for 1.5 years 😂
