I already saw this on Chris Ramsay's and I was like, I HAVE TO learn this, so i come here and half way through im like Ohhh! I know what he did! He wrote the 1 on the back of the 3! *I feel so smart* 2:34 wait what??

Damn! I always Hated those sneaky problems like “with one STRAIGHT line, ONLY one, make 5 + 5 + 5 = 550”. And the solution is is, you draw a small, straight line, diagonally on the corner of the first “+” symbol, turning it from a “+”, into a “4”, so it now reads “5 4 5 + 5
These “puzzles” just annoy me; they’re not clever, IMO.
Here the principle is similar, but 100 more sneaky and clever, and I LOVE it!! Thanks Spidey!!!

Pretty neat.
I was thinking some kind of patter about the Mandela effect would work really well with this trick. Everyone remembers seeing a 1 and remembers you writing a 1, yet in the end... it never existed.

This is a lovely, simple, but deceiving effect. Many thanks. Just some ideas for everyone.

Firstly state that you are going to ask them FOUR questions and that to win the bet they must answer them all correctly. Then no focus or expectation will be placed by the spectator upon the importance of the third question.

Instead of making the surprise card blank pre write 1/2 upon it. That way when they state "Five" as the answer to the third question we can then patter "so near but so far!" or alternatively "almost but no cigar!

At the start we can still show all four cards cleanly to be blank front and back by placing the 1/2 card with the numeral face up upon the bottom of the packet of double blanks and after flashing the bottom face of the whole packet undertake a double bottom revolve before ditching the top face down 1/2 card. Then ditto for the other three cards. Then it is easy to lay out the cards face up and down as required with no wrist kill required since the 1/2 card will already be face down. Just need to turn the 2 card face down which can be done openly.

I thought it was an editing when he made a cut from his hands to the table, but I still know that Spidey never edits, no matter how impossible the trick is, so after I saw the tutorial, I said myself: "I knew he would never edit" By the way thanks for this trick.

Here's a tweak to make it more convincing. As it is, it's quite easy to guess the 1 became the 4. Instead, before you start, write 5 on the last card. Then when they guess 5 at the end, they will see the 5 and be convinced there is a fifth card somewhere. They'll want to examine all the cards, and of course, you can let them.

So, in theory you could write something on the face of the blank card along the lines of "you owe me a shot" or so on.

for the first question, an extra part that affirms that it is the number 1 is that they saw you write it, and that when they were correct you flipped the card with the number 2 over, affirming that the last one had to be a one.
