STARTER LOC DOS AND DONT'S | Get your hair to loc FASTER!!

Heyyy Everyone!

These are my tips to get your hair to loc faster or things that you might be doing that could be slowing your progress down! These are things that I have learned from my personal experience so it may or may not work for you and that's okay! We all find ways to manage our hair and we are all not the same :) I've been getting some questions regarding people's hair not progressing or their hair keeps unraveling so in this video I share some dos and don'ts when it comes to starter locs!

Can I just say I love going through the comments and how everyone is saying they started their locs this week or a few days ago. This pandemic has really allowed us for self love, self reflection, and growth. Started my locs on 5/26/20 and I’m so excited about this journey. Good luck to everyone!!! 🔒🔒🔒🔒

To everyone who’s in here talkin bout they thinkin bout startin locs... DO IT. It’s not permanent unless you want it to be. You can try it out for a month or two and if you like it and fall in love w it which I hope you do.. keep it. If not take it out 🤷🏽‍♀️ you’ll never know unless you try! SO TRY ❤️

(1) I washed my hair.. about 1.5 weeks into my microlocs. I workout and sweat a lot 🙄🙄 so I had to. It actually turned out to BENEFIT me because my hair shrunk & coiled faster into individual “locs”. (2) I tried the stocking cap method, but my head doesn’t feel clean enough. (3) It helps to interlock your hair at least once. If you have a looser texture that keeps slipping after washing, interlocking will help your locs from unraveling, & your hair will coil right back up and into a loc after washing.

Almost three months in and I have buildup. Not from retwist products, but oil! I've been using castor oil (which is too thick and attracts dirt like a magnet) and I've been using too much! Definitely only apply oil to the root. Do not let the oil coat your locs! And the wave cap wash method is helpful, however, I don't think it washes the hair as good considering I was barely getting the oil out when I washed with a cap! Just some things to be aware of! Still loving my locs regardless

Great tips‼️ I started my locs journey 4/20 and just took them out and started over. She did my locs twisted to the left and I just couldn’t take it anymore. They kept unraveling. I prefer clockwise like you mentioned
