There was a health report released just this past fortnight and it showed the reef has had its biggest growth this past 12 months in its recorded history.

Fun Fact about that time Cook's ship was damaged by The Reef. While they were beached and doing repairs, Naturalist Joseph Banks met some local Guugu Yimithirr people and this is where we got the English word for 'kangaroo." In the Guugu Yimithirr language, kangaroo only refers to eastern grey kangaroos; they had other words for other species.

The Guugu Yimithirr language is also interesting because they have no words for "left" or "right." Instead, they use cardinal directions like "north, " "south, " "east, " and "west."

As an Australian I am deeply offended that you would call those monster named Emus a prized bird as they are out sworn enemies, war have been fought you know

I assume this is in response to the news that the Great Barrier Reef has more coral cover than it has in 40 years.

The Belize Barrier Reef you mentioned has a pretty wicked spot called the Great Blue Hole that looks like it'd lead to the entrance of Atlantis. It is 318 m/1, 043 feet across and 124 m/407 feet deep. Scientists believe it was formed during the end of the last Ice Age when rising seawaters flooded a series of enormous caverns. It is now a World Heritage Site and a renowned diving spot for the adventurous

Error news just in. According to the Australian marine biological institute. The barrier is the best shape it has ever been. But it doesn't have ecological currency so we keep saying it's in trouble.

Very very lucky that I have had the privilege to visit the Great Barrier Reef. My dad is Australian, from Sydney, and Australia is the only other country I’ve been to other than America. Went when I was 16, in 2015. The reef was incredible. Almost impossible to put into words their beauty. 7 years later I can still remember my experience there vividly. Everybody please go if you are able to.

the reef is currently at its most robust in 36 years of records so we clearly dont have suffcient historical data or knowledge to make any reliable forecast

Re-seeding the Great Barrier Reef with corals has proven to be a major success!!

Emus are indeed prized birds. With the way they beat Aussie farmers, they'd be the perfect recruits for our military against West allies like the US, the Southern government, and Japan. And I hope I get to visit Australia eventually

Thank you for mentioning my home, though we haven't had significant coral beds in New Mexico for hundreds to thousands of years 😃 Yes, there are coral fossils at the peak of the Sandia mountain, so we were underwater at some point in history. The mermaid in me loves hearing it!

In my home state, North Carolina, the water off the coast of the barrier islands called the Outer Banks has the distinction of being known as "The Graveyard of the Atlantic" due to the estimated 3, 000 shipwrecks.
Not a bad nickname
