0:53 "Due to a technicality in the rules"

And that's the whole insurance industry in a nutshell.

Having Michael pull you aside and, clearly invested in your situation, ask, "Did you get your money?" has to be as memorable as actually hitting the shot.

If a company isn't willing to pay up then they shouldn't sponsor such events. Kudos to MJ and the rest of the Bulls for sticking up for this guy.

Typical insurance company, they never wanna pay out for claims but gladly take your payments for their "insurance". Glad Jordan and the team helped the guy get the money he earned!

Props to Michael Jordan making sure he received the rightfully earned money

Fun fact: Insurance companies are so hated that in civil lawsuits against them, judges often have to instruct jurors to disregard the fact that the defendant is, in fact, an insurance company. It’s nearly impossible to find an impartial jury for cases involving insurers. And they deserve every bit of hate they get.

When he landed the shot the people who had to pay up immediately dropped their drinks, went silent & and called their lawyers.

Calhouns story is so heartwarming when you read it from his son's perspective, who became a doctor with the prize money of that shot . and how the ball is still in his possession

edit : the espn story about it which came out quite recently is where i got this from, highly recommended read

Hahaha, I got secondhand embarrassment from that kid warming up for 30 minutes only to completely miss a 3 pointer.

Feel like a company legally shouldn't be allowed to bring on people and promise them any sum of money unless those people are aware of the rules/restrictions. Bringing people on and promising them anything, knowing they won't receive anything they were promised regardless of any agreement with insurance companies sounds like grounds to sue.

Just the fact Mike recognized the kid after a year is incredible

A cool thing about this is that he used his money to help put his son through college, who would then become a doctor. Not only that but also create revenue streams for his family's future. It's amazing man.

A question with a simple 30 second answer stretched into a 15 minute video and I was hooked the entire time, awesome stuff and a good story.

When Jordan tells you to pay the man; you pay the man.

Massive respect to the players that stood up for that guy and told the owners to pay him. It would have been totally fine if they never let him take the shot to begin with due to it being against the rules. But after they decided to let him take the shot, that was on them.

To even contemplate not paying the guy the money is pure criminal. MJ Legend of the game, Legend of humanity.
