It took some intense web research to find out that this incredible trumpet player is Uan Rasey, who is surely the most undeservedly unfamous trumpet player in history. His solo here is incredibly full, rich, and just plain gorgeous. He was a contract musician for MGM who played on literally hundreds of movie scores and soundtracks, as well as backing dozens of famous singers including Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Doris Day, and many others who were smart enough to include him in their band. It may be that the only reason we don't know more about him is that he was handicapped from a childhood bout with polio, and in later years moved from crutches to a wheelchair. Insiders knew who he was, but to most of the rest of the world, he remains unknown. I'd like to change that.

Listening during this Covid-19 lockdown. Isolation, alienation, loneliness and I'm now a nighthawk...I was here 10th April 2020.
