It's like alcoholism. A mild case of it can be fun, but the heavy ones are nothing but trouble.

I was diagnosed 4 years ago when I was 36. It is a mild case, and part of my therapy was being in a group session a few times with fellow audists, mostly of the younger generations (ie teenagers).

It didn't bother me dealing with the crap OP mentioned, but literally being able to predict everyone's mannerisms was like being in "The Twilight Zone". I was glad to be able to help out the more severe cases because I literally saw my "quirks" within them, but you couldn't pay me enough to deal with that everyday. It was draining.

It's like, yeah, I love to drink, but these people are HARDCORE.

Autistic girl here. Had a boyfriend dump me after the first time I spent the night as his place because i didnt stop talking to him the whole night, he had to call in to work the next day because he couldnt sleep.

Boyfriend after that one was also autistic, and things were great for a while, but he eventually dumped me for being unable to take care of myself financially and for having so many meltdowns.

So yeah, the struggle is real i guess. 🤷🏼‍♀️

This seems doable, I don’t know what this guy expected. I’d be keeping a list of all her sensory issues so that we can avoid them. I totally get it.

It does suck feeling ignored but it’s not like she’s trying to ignore him. I really think that would get better with practice. I doubt she didn’t listen but just didn’t know how to respond except to keep going with what she already planned to say. Happens to me occasionally.

It’s also really admirable that she is still putting herself out there and trying to date like this.

I honestly don’t mind her rambling about other topics. The only part that seems bad is that she doesn’t let him get a word in, and ignores what he tried to add. I was into a girl like this and had that same issue. I actually like listening, but when I speak I want the other person to at least hear me out.
