Man, I was hoping they'd mention the South Korean "leaving a fan on will suffocate you" one.

The weirdest superstition I grew up with was that you had to break the shells when you ate boiled eggs, or else witches would use them to make boats and go out to sink ships. I have never met another person who also does this!

I learned a crazy new superstition when my grandfather passed.. apparently pregnant women aren't allowed to attend the funeral or socialize with someone who recently lost someone. The reasoning was that it would invite unwanted spirits, cursing/killing the unborn child. Had cousin and a cousin's wife miss out on the funeral (they don't believe it themselves, but for sake of the superstitious ones they skipped out. The cousin's wife though, did join us in after events. Kid is fine..). Chinese if you're wondering.

fun fact: in ancient greece it was common to huck an apple at someone you liked, apples represented love and fertility so it was thought to increase the chances that said person would develop feelings for you

Here’s some more superstitions:
Fun facts:
1-you should never write names in red pen since in Korean superstition red is bad luck and it's the same as cursing someone

2-geisha would wear white powder since if the candles when out the light would catch on their faces and illuminate the room but it would make them look pale like a ghost so they wore red makeup so evil spirits wouldn't harm them

3-it's believed if you keep a broom upside down it will ward off guests you don't like so if you see one it might mean they don't like you very much

4-if you sneeze on a Sunday the devil will chase you all next week

5-if you see a light and whistle at it the devil will slap you in the face

6- if you see a magpie you should tip your hat and ask how it’s wife is doing or you’ll get bad luck

7-if you give yellow flowers to someone you’re cursing them with infidelity

8-if a pregnant woman mocks someone their baby will have the same features of the people they mocked

9-if a funeral vehicle goes by while you’re laughing you’ll be next

10-if you roll in morning dew at dawn you’ll become beautiful

11-if you clip your nails at night a rat will eat them and become a monster version of you and torment you

12-if you come home after 6pm you have to walk in backwards or evil spirits will follow you in

13-if you’re the last to walk in a evil spirit will follow you

14-if you wash on New Year’s Day a loved one will dye

15-if you sneeze or cough twice someone is talking behind your back

16-once your cat grows old it will turn into a vampiric shapeshifting cat that can turn others into zombies by jumping over them apparently

17-on Christmas you must leave an extra plate and let a stranger join you or else you will receive bad luck

18-hide your brooms on Christmas or a witch will steal them

19-hide your knives on Halloween or else a ghost will steal them

20-if you don’t touch your collar when you see a funeral vehicle or you’ll be next

A superstition that I was told before and still bring along till this day is that whenever you see a black moth flying around in the house, someone is coming over. Surprisingly this did work every time with the person either being an already informed guest or sometimes my parents coming over around 10 minutes after the moth appeared.

The Magpie one is a bigger rhyme than that - 1 for sorrow, 2 for joy, 3 for a girl, 4 for a boy, 5 for silver, 6 for gold, 7 for a secret never to be told, 8 for a wish, 9 for for a kiss and 10 for a bird you must not miss

1:20 it's actually magic mirror on the wall. Not mirror mirror. That's an example of the Mandela effect.

Superstitions are everywhere. Throwing bridal bouquets, wearing a white wedding dress, groom not seeing bride before wedding, something old, new, borrowed, blue, carying bride over threshhold of a house, tieing cans and junk to a car and dragging them as you drive away, there are all popular bits of nonsense in my area.
