What do Ponce De Leon, Alexander The Great and Jason Giambi all have in common?

Superstitions.

What are superstitions? Why do we believe them?

Although there are a lot of weird superstitions out there, there may be psychological benefits to believing them.

Let's find out why.

Many of the ‘techniques’ that help overcome the algorithm, like clickbait titles, dramatic often angry or fearful facial expressions in the thumbnail, and making videos about the biggest drama of the day, ie Will Smith slap, Gabby Perdito etc, may help channels grow fast, but for all the wrong reasons. What I like about this channel are many of the qualities the algorithm does not seem to promote. Great production and content, interesting topics, honest video titles that are actually relevant to the video, and two awesome hosts. If it weren’t for channels like WF, I’d likely leave YouTube all together.

my mom would always say knock on wood and if there wasn't any wood around she'd knock the top of her head

Can we just take a moment to recognize the enormous amount of compassion, empathy, and emotional intelligence displayed in this video (even while maintaining a clever sense of humor)... Thank you so much for being a kind human, AJ. Taking the time to distinguish superstitions from clinical OCD compulsions(and in a considerate manner) is just further proof of your awesomeness. Props, my man.

Know who else? Surgeons. They have their rituals as they prep for surgery, the way they scrub their hands, the order in which they glove (right or left first), what songs they listen to, etc. psychologists believe this sets your frame of mind and concentration, kind of “gets you in the zone”. Apologies if someone else already commented on this one. Great episode and great channel!

I heard through friend of a friend of a friend, that his cousin said he over heard a lady saying that hecklefish is going to get his own video as a presenter and AJ is the heckler... Just something I heard from a trusted source

Ack! So many superstitions.
My grandmother had some:
Never put new shoes on the table.
Never rock an empty rocking chair.
Never place a hat on a bed.
Never have a dinner party with 13 people.
And lastly-I admit to doing this one--
If you leave the house, but have to come back for something you forgot---you must sit down & wait for several minutes before leaving the house again.
None of these actions/inactions were ever explained to me, but I can't forget them. And because you made this video A.J. I'm forced to think fondly of my superstitious Grandma❤️. Thanks.

the expression to “knock on wood” is rooted in the belief that when a sailor thumped on the hull of a vessel, it should sound solid rather than rotted...dating back as far as the early 1700s

This channel is the most entertaining thing Ive come across.
Get the actual story, an opinion or two, and an attempt to wrap it up logically when able to. Although some stories just leave us wanting more explanations.
No clickbait BS. What the title says, is specifically what the video explores.
Thank you. My singular opinion means zero big picture, but if any channel deserved 10 mill its this one.

Thank you. This helped cure 20 years of my depression and anxiety. I was too logical and trying to control probabilities and outcomes in an infinite universe was driving me crazy. Superstitions allows me to relieve my need for control.

I truly wish your channel grows with millions of subscribers. However, I do realize that most people want to watch garbage and not quality and informative videos. Thank you very much for all your hard work.
