I’d give almost anything to go back in time and see a true Pink Floyd concert. (Edit: I love all the people in the replies so much. I’m only 17 but I grew up with music like this thanks to my dad. Happy to see that good music is still kept alive and can unite people of all ages)

*Us and them is Pink Floyd's most relatable song to humanity and probably the best anti-war song*
Change my mind.

1973 was quite a year. I had graduated from high school in 1972 and just finding my way. I remember a friend running over to my house with the album under his arm telling me “this is an unbelievable album “. He was right. I still shed a tear listening to this. Truly timeless

Lyrics:
Us (us, us, us, us) and them (them, them, them, them)
And after all we’re only ordinary men
Me and You (you, you, you)
God only knows
It’s not what we would choose (choose, choose) to do (to do, to do)

Forward he cried from the rear
And the front rank died
And the general sat
And the lines on the map
Moved from side to side

Black (black, black, black)
And blue (blue, blue)
And who knows which is which and who is who
Up (up, up, up, up)
And down (down, down, down, down)
And in the end it’s only round ‘n round (round, round, round)

Haven’t you heard it’s a battle of words
The poster bearer cried
“Listen son”, said the man with the gun
There’s room for you inside

“I mean, they’re not gonna kill ya
So if you give ‘em a quick short, sharp, shock
They won’t do it again. Dig it?
I mean he get off lightly, ‘cause I would’ve given him a thrashing
I only hit him once! It was only a difference of opinion, but really
I mean good manners don’t cost nothing do they, eh?”

Down (down, down, down, down)
And out (out, out, out, out)
It can’t be helped that there’s a lot of it about
With (with, with, with), without
And who’ll deny it’s what the fighting’s all about?

Out of the way
It’s a busy day
I’ve got things on my mind
For the want of the price
Of tea and a slice
The old man died
❤️❤️❤️

I’m only 14 but I was introduced to this music when is was at a young age. I play guitar, drums, and the saxophone. My favorite bands have become Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, and Pink Floyd. I would just love to live in the 60s, 70s, and 80s and see such amazing concerts. Their light show is sooo mesmerizing, beautiful, and physcedelic. They are one of the bands that will never be forgotten and will be recognized as one of the best bands of all time.

Maybe their best song, and the most prophetic.

I cannot say how many times I’ve listened to this album. How many tapes & CD’s I’ve worn out!! I may have been a die hard Bee Gees fan, but I am now 61 years old and this album IS THE BEST ALBUM of all!!

Love the bits of Nick Mason drumming. The man is underrated, one of the best drummers.

The first time I saw Floyd live my jaw dropped. They totally raised the bar on music and live performance. Another musician at the concert, a friend who became a major guitarist, looked at me and said "How do you compete with that?" He actually thought about giving up music! But then how can you listen to this still under appreciated song and its lyrics and ever do that? Pink Floyd elevated music. How many others did that on anywhere near the scale?
