Looks amazing. I always wanted to try hydrophobic coating for wood. Coming from Bavaria, I have to admit the glasses filled with water disappoibt a bit. 🍺

I can't wait to use this on my first table, maybe even my next coasters! Love it.

It’d be interesting to test the finish by soaking two separate pieces in water, one with N3, one without. After soaking and shaking off, you could weigh the pieces and see which one took on more water weight

I've been told that water is the universal solvent. water likes to dissolve just about everything. I've always enjoyed the wood that looks candy coated with too much epoxy. But i'm weird like that. Anyway, it's hard to keep that coating from getting damaged from wear and tear.

I'm curious as to how safe it is for food use. I'm getting ready to create a charcuterie/cutting board wall, and this looks like something fantastic to use on my boards. Especially the charcuterie. Is this stuff food safe? BTW, I'm not a woodworker, so if it sounds like I don't know what I'm talking about, it's because I don't.😊

How well does the wood fare after some time passes ?

This product looks amazing can’t wait to try it. Question I’m wondering about, with black epoxy and Rubio + nano does it eliminate scratches from the sanding process? I’ve gone up to 2000 grit on solid black epoxy and although the sheen is great… I still see small scratches. Curious if this product and Rubio fix this as I’ve seen you don’t go much higher than 320 based on your finishing tutorial

Have you ever thought of putting a ppf wrap over it? I know there’s many applications for it for car use but I have always wanted to try this. Plz lmk would love to work with you on a project. Many wraps come with ceramic properties and the scratches are all self healing with a bit of heat

Are these based on PFAS ("forever" chemicals)?

Its an interesting test as presented. But what happens to water when the same glasses are placed on a table that's treated 100% with hydrophobic coating?

Is that food grade? Could I use it on a charcuterie tray and such?

For when you want it to run over to the floor 😕

Hi Cam, this is great. How well does it hold up on a table with a bit more open grain? My table is by far not as smooth are your products.

Ngl i feel like if water is just like there on the table it'll fall somehow or damage things next to it on the table
Hence i just put a rag on top of my small side table and generally keep napkins closed to other tables so water can be wiped asap
Before i started putting a rag on it/next to it one day my earphone case and a couple of my certificates were drenched while on the table

Is there a way to keep a flat finish with this? I would like to add more protection to my dining room table but want to keep if flat.
I have water based polyurethane, flat.

Why do we say hydrophobic? The wood resists the water, it isn't afraid of the water

But why? Indoors wood can handle water pretty damn well with just a simple coat of linseed oil plus its probably way cheaper and doesn't kill the wooden touch
