For those who are still having this grinding issue, there is good news. Honda has now acknowledged this problem and has sent out a service bulletin. It's some sort of issue with a valve in the CVT transmission. There is now a fix for it. It is TSB A17- 003. See the forum link below:


Disclaimer: the Honda dealer's service department has to be able to replicate the noise for them to fix it. Take your car in and hopefully, it will make the noise. Videos apparently doesn't count. Good luck to everyone!

My 2016 does the same thing. Usually cold starts but I hear it at least once a day, really annoying.
