"I no longer fear hell, because I've been to Kamp Krusty"

Damn, Simpsons sure was dark back then.

"I feel like I'm gonna die, Bart."
"We're all gonna die, Lis."
"I meant soon."
"So did I."

That scene where Lisa was about to get on the Canoe was very well done. The sounds and visuals are top notch. This kind of details is why Simpsons was such a success back in the day.

Fun fact: The producers originally wanted this episode to be The Simpsons Movie.

"You're serving us gruel?"
"Not quite. This is Krusty brand imitation gruel. 9 out of 10 orphans can't tell the difference."

This was pretty much a flawless Simpsons episode...

0:58 I love that their faces are drawn in such a manner that you cant tell if their frolicking happy or running in fear.

Dolph wearing the hairnet cracks me. The camp doesn't follow any laws except requiring a hairnet for serving grool.

I love the idea that they are so cheap they couldn’t even spring for quality gruel☺️🤣

I was the tenth orphan. I believe I was harsh, but fair. My refined palate will accept nothing but the choicest of gruels and gruel-like food substitutes.

Lest we forget, James L. Brooks thought this episode was good enough to be the actual Simpsons Movie back in '92.

I was 13 when I first saw this episode. At 1:35, even though the guys were holding glasses of wine, I didn't know that Mr. Black was making a toast. I thought he said, "Gentleman, too evil, " not "to evil, " since Jimbo, Kearney, and Dolph are underage. Therefore, I thought "The Simpsons" was subtly pushing the "Kids, drinking is evil" propaganda.
