I always loved the joke where Krusty hates the foods he served in his restaurants

This literally happened, McDonalds had a promotion where you'd get a scratch off for a particular event, if the US took gold in said even people would get free burgers, just before the olympics started the USSR which had been dominating in a ton of events boycotted. Whole families were walking away with meals for free

The 1984 Olympics happened about a year before I was born, but my parents still remember the McDonald's event fondly. The big problem with the promotion, aside from the Soviet boycott, was that McDonald's didn't think to limit the amount of food you could get in a single visit, or to have separate wrappers for purchased and free food, like they do for their promos now. My parents said they'd take the entire extended family, and you could feed everyone by just buying a single order of french fries and then keep going back with the winning tickets. They said that people would sometimes just throw away or give away the tickets, since it was impossible to eat all of the free food you'd get.
