I don't think people understand. People think "Oh, Wargaming thinks subs will be OP they won't be OP they take this skill that skill WE NEED SUBZ."

The thing is, Subs are NOT op. In fact, they would be so underpowered that really only the best players would play them, and get bored very quickly due to the highly monotonous nature of the submarine. At least on the surface you can shoot down planes and watch the explosions.

Life of a sub in-game: Sail through boring silent water, see a target, fire a torpedo, MAYBE hit (torpedoes are slow), and then get completely annihilated by depth charges.

Even if subs were in game, too few people would play them. There may be a huge rush of sub sailors right after the game's release, but then it would all calm down as more people realized that subs really are only fun once. The sub's job was to engage shipping lanes, not naval combats.

Wow! The Chief has gotten old. Still has the talent to explain things to us without dumbing it down.

i was a bit dissapointed with the decision to not include submarines since they could be the equivalant of tank destroyers like in wot, sneaky and deadly but when spotted they would have a hard time making it out alive, or maybe they could act as scouts which seems a much more balanced role at least.

What a disapointment. Submarines would of been critical to what could be potentially the most popular marine warfare game of all time. You could balance this class by having scout planes to scan the area which spots Submarines OR counter enemy Submarines with friendly submarinres. You could also restrict the depth of the Submarine can reach and limit the time it can stay under water forcing it to surface maybe every 5 minutes or so? This allows fast Destroyers to use depth charges to counter them. I think this would of countered how devastating Submarines would be.

Finally, some details! Too bad there was no gameplay footage. I'm particularly curious about how carrier combat will work - it sounds kind of like Battlestations: Midway - dispatching squadrons from an overhead map?

Thanks to World of Warship's developer team,
now we can enjoy the Deadly U-boat, powerful U.S. underwater fleet and the Soviet submarine!

Waiting for the develop of the Japanese's Aircraft-carrying submarine
and also the launch day of the submarine in WoWs Blitz!

Thank you Developers!

looks like they were here in my city Fall River, Ma. We have the Battleship Massachusetts, Destroyer Kennedy, Gato class Sub Lionfish, 2 PT Boats and an East German Missile boat. Oh and the bow from the Heavy Cruiser USS Fall River.

Any chance we will get to see the Admiral Graf Spee in the game? Since submarines is a no-go. What about an iconic pocket battleship.

When they were talkin bout the cruisers and they said they were on a cruiser that was actually the U.S.S. Texas a legendary battleship that served in both world wars

As a navyfield CV commander i can tell you it take time for the planes to get fuel up for a run agents an enemy vessel of group of fighter. pulse the types in navyfled really make a different in the  time of dogfight like in the US tec tree for example you can choose between 2 fighters the x-55 witch consumes fuel faster but shoot down fight faster or the fuel save f4f that has a bit less firepower but stays in the air longer then the p x-55

To be honest, submarines did not usually take part in surface fleet battles.  The British experimented in fleet submarines in the first world war and they were disasterous.  Either their own side attacked them thinking they might be U boats, or they got rammed accidentally.

Great game idea, and great video.  Also, for all you folks questioning why they call big naval guns "rifles" . . . . “Steel B. L. R.s –All modern guns are steel B. L. R.s, so called because loading is done from the breech, and the bore is rifled to cause the projectile to rotate.”  -Naval Gunnery 1900 (Official United States Navy Gunnery Training Manual.)  FYI:  BLR, of course, is Breech Loading Rifle.  Just sayin' . . .
