PRO TIP: If you want to use just the color shift from a LUT in DaVinci (so without the contrast and saturation), simply create two paralel nodes, apply the LUT to the second node, and change the composite mode to Color.

Isn't this a My LUT is better than your LUT video rather than don't use LUT video? 😅

This video couldn't have came out at a better time. THANK YOU!

Great minds think alike 🖤 separating the contrast from colors, layering LUTs is here!

In resolve you can just use color space transform to get it to rec709. And then on the node you put the lut you can change the composite mode to color and get rid of the contrast and brightness issues.

Can you make a lut of this video settings for iphone 15 pro (max) ? Looks great

Good stuff! This is why I still prefer using standard photo presets in Lightroom with slider adjustments versus presets that only include profile adjustments and zero everything else out. With profiles, you can only overall adjust the image just like using a Lut. With sliders, you can go in there and refine what you want to change. A much better way IMO.

The issue you say at the start doesn't persist if you use a cst for the colour space you are in through to rec 709 (or preferably another intermediate colour space) then create a cst after that from rec 709 to the colour space the LUT is in, then create a compound node with the LUT and CST which you can adjust the intensity of without diminishing the contrast level as you bypass the rec 709 transform that way

luts are powerful, most movies and TV shows use them as a base after creating an initial look, almost everything you see at the high end when it comes to music videos use a Kodak 2383 lut at the end of the chain

Matti, this isn’t a color grading tutorial. I love your new product, but I also felt click-baited. Really would love you to do a color grading tutorial for real some time.

I can attest to these LUTs for Sony, so good and love having the conversion and looks separate! Thanks Matti!

I’m currently learning to better color grade so I’m excited for this

Yo Matti, can you make a video on audio settings for Resolve. I used to use the low tone vocal enhancer in premiere which was amazing for vlogging clips, and I'm having some trouble mimicking the effect in Resolve. Thanks!

Thanks for this, Matti; funny, I've been doing this for years, haha. Using a base LUT and then a creative LUT. Thanks!

Love the look of your Retro Graphics...reminds me of my early days in video production...

Why didn't you mention use the color transform module in Da Vinci before using a lut with a stylized look? I always use the color space transform in my second or third node (first node or two is for basic adjustments) to turn my log footage into rec.709 and then I use a lut on top of that in a node following that color space transform node. Then I can dial in the level/key output gain from there to my final look.

My first time ever using a LUT was with your Canon LUT pack: I think I was scared it LUTs would always look over the top. But your workflow made it EASY 🙏🙌🏻

Love how you said don't use luts then spent the entire video selling your luts
