There are some reasons that you will not get the job offer. Many of these reasons will result in no interviews at all, but there is little you can do about it except for the main reason and that is if you decide to quit. When you stop searching and applying you are reducing the odds to 0% of finding a job and that should not be acceptable for you. In this video, I also discuss some differences between private and public sector jobs. Have you started applying to a federal government job on USAJobs yet? Let me know down below.

Thanks for watching!

Patience is key like you said. Since the federal hiring process takes time, you cannot be currently unemployed and expect a federal job opportunity fast.

I applied to an insurance sales job as I was a top seller for a different company. I got rejected from round 2 and when I asked why, the recruiter said it was because I have too much going on with side businesses and side hustles and they want someone who is going to give all their time to the company.
Thats why I can’t find a job…bc I am not willing to sacrifice my livelihood for any company.

some people are unable to move, we don't have enough money or we have relatives.. so I'm stuck where I'm at, it is a large metro area with many federal jobs, but I think it really depends WHAT is being hired.

Long Long story...I know I should stick to Reddit when posting this long but hear me out:

After working my butt off to get hired at a government job, I got to experience the "fun" of dealing with discrimination on top of bullying and outright harassment. This went on for over a year. There were coworkers that witnessed it and could have stood up for what is right, but didn't.

These bullies are quite hypocritical in that they would tell you to mind your own business when you first met them but would share your personal information or rumours with strangers you've never met before. They never even bother to at least introduce themselves first.

Oh, and to top that off I was expected to train myself and teach others my hard earned skills that I had before getting hired.

Why should I teach my own supervisor that was hired after me and already got a leg up due to who he was married to or friends with? On top of that he is given continuous training and support, yet doesn't offer anything when it comes to his coworkers careers. He seems to be adding dumb tasks that don't add to our focus of work.

Why should I have to teach a coworker my hard earned skills or help create free training/classes when she had been screaming at me like a nut case and lied about it?

One thing in common with all these bullies is that A.) they were friends or married to folks on the higher end of the social ladder and got their supervisor/management and training because friends help friends or B.) they had some personal issues going on (I feel for you but please stop), so the easiest way to feel better was to sabotage others or project their insecurities on others or C.) Simply evil or sociopathic people that think it's normal to hurt others.

When I stood up for myself a few times early on they covered it up because HR was either friends with the bully or fearful of them.

I ended up with suicidal ideation for the first time in my life because of the gaslighting and games they were playing. I had to seek therapy for the first time in my life and thankfully I'm stronger now.

A few of the bullies had come back to apologize (with excuses and going back to some of their bad behaviors later) and I try to be forgiving, but I'll never trust them. I have a star forged wall around them.

The only thing that has kept me from quitting is my love for my family the hate of my own ego and insecurities. I do have bills to pay, but I'm patient and if I get offered a better federal job you bet your butt I'm leaving.

Know your worth and keep safe boundaries.

Thank you for all the helpful advice.

Thank you, Armand. I bought your two books and they have been very helpful. They’re still things to navigate however…… like learning that after several summers as a seasonal worker, there are no step increases! I just assume my pay was going up. Depending on the state sometimes it would sometimes it wouldn’t.

Let some of these HR people that be in the comments tell it, things like that never happen.

I just applied for a couple jobs. First one was a GS-6 that closed 4th of July weekend. Finally heard back last week that I was referred for the position. Then last week I applied for a job at another base 2 hours down the road from where I live, and it is classified as a developmental position with a promotion potential to a GS-11. That job announcement closes tomorrow the 6th of August. So now is just the waiting game. As of now, I have not yet seen anything new open to consider applying for, but I'm on the look out.
