David is a nuanced character, because he's not a dreamer. He fights for other people's dreams during the whole show, first for his mother's dream of him becoming corpo, then for Maine's legacy of trying to become a legendary edgerunner, and finally for Lucy's dream of seeing the moon. In such an individualistic world, he's an oddity just because of this, but even moreso as a cyberpunk since becoming a legend means dying following your dreams, not someone else's. Yet David became a legend, but not before corrupting every dream he received from others. He reached the top of arasaka tower, like his mother wanted, but did it through violence and pain, not through the corpo way. He went out as a legend like Maine wanted, but also failed exactly like Maine by getting cyberpsychosis. finally, he made Lucy go to the moon. But he made her alone again, which for her is more painful than anything else. I think in that shows the sad truth that David was still barely a kid, focused on others instead of himself, out of kindness and innocence, the thing that makes Lucy fall in love with him. But it also shows how immature he is, thinking only about the goal but not the process, and never taking in account what he'd have to sacrifice to achieve his ambitions.

Adam smasher killed Becca like stepping on a Roach. It's sad, but its hilariously true

He fulfilled his mother's dream of being employed ( well he was an experiment but still ) making it all the way to the top of arasaka tower. Fulfilled his dreams by becoming a legend and saving Lucy. And Maine's ideals for him, he did run like he was told to do

Not to mention AfterLife had a drink named after him. Too bad there's no Rebecca special to order.

There should be an in game update where you run into Lucy living a peaceful life. Arasaka never found that she was the netrunner who escaped years ago because David saved her in time. Long as she does not pull a Johny Silverhand for revenge she wont be bothered.
Only 3 people get away from Araska sucessfully
Lucy in Edgerunners and V if you leave with Panam wether you chose to romance her or stay just friends
Rogue long as you dont pick letting Johnny have control
Well kind as she struck a deal where Aaraska lets her be and do street business long as she stays out the way. (You find out later in the game)

An ordinary dude who gets somethig attached to his back which has the ultimate power, somehow gets with a badass punk girl named Lucy and meets new friends while running from the authorities. Sound familiar? Its the lore of *The Lego Movie*

We have our street kid, season two better be a nomad storyline, and season 3 should be a corpo one and somehow they all tie together

If Netflix made an adaptation oh boy were all f*cked

Hopefully season 2 is another standalone story and not a continuation of lucy's story

I got that message too, I realized it while I was reading Fist of The North Star, where a character had a similar arc.

Honestly this anime was very nice and cool, it gives a wake up call for reality to set in, I think season 2 won't be neccessary in my opinion because 1. Everyone is dead 2. It'd kinda destroy the feeling that this is more set on the reality of Night city where hardly anyone really lives 3. It accomplished its own dream, to make us cry and show the reality of a life of being on the edge. Take care ya'll.
